Form & Verdict
Course winner over hurdles and he has added two handicap chases to his tally this season, both at around 2m on soft ground; ran right up to his best when third at Sandown three weeks ago (winner gone in again since) and this is less competitive; leading claims if proving fully effective on heavy ground (ran to form on it in one attempt here last season).

Ex-Dan Skelton; started off for Sophie Leech with two disappointing French hurdle runs this summer (wore cheekpieces) but caused a 50-1 shock when back over fences at Worcester (2m4f, good to soft; blinkers) last month; subsequent 4lb rise is not insurmountable if he's in the same form.

Last win for the Skeltons was off this mark last December (1m7f, soft) but he's offered little since, including in two French hurdles for current yard.

Form & Verdict
Kicked off this season with chase wins at Huntingdon and Chepstow (2m, good to soft and soft; has won on heavy); only 1lb higher than for the latter success and although he's underperformed twice since (including when tried in this headgear last time), he's one to take seriously.

Three wins from ten runs over fences, the latest at Leicester (2m, heavy) last February; may have needed the run after 312-day break when well beaten last time; a possible.

Jumped poorly and was well beaten on seasonal debut in November but got back on track with front-running third at Exeter (2m1f, soft) last month and remains well handicapped on older form.

Form & Verdict
Heavy-ground hurdle winner last season; reportedly had an irregular heartbeat when pulled up on stable debut in November but he was back in the groove when seeing off nine rivals in a 2m6f handicap chase here three weeks ago; up 6lb in a stronger race but he's coming here on the back of a personal best and his excess stamina is no bad thing under the forecast conditions.

Won in a refitted visor at Lingfield (2m6f) in November and runner-up on next three outings, which represents career-best form; still on a fair mark and drying ground won't bother him at all.

Two-time course winner, the latest here (2m6f, soft) last February, and got back on the scoresheet at Lingfield (2m6f, good) in November; runner-up on both starts since (2m6f, good to soft; here last time); solid candidate.

Verdict

Mount Tempest (second choice) is still improving and he can go well, while Mr Grey Sky will relish underfoot conditions and isn’t handicapped out of things on this season’s best. NO TACKLE (nap) drops in trip and steps up in class but he won well here three weeks ago and his proven stamina will be no bad thing if this becomes attritional.[Paul Smith]
