Promise for previous yard and made the most of a simple opportunity on debut for this one when beating two rivals over C&D (good) in early November; this will take considerably more winning under a penalty but she could progress for excellent trainer.

Comfortably made all in three-runner maiden on hurdle/stable debut at Plumpton (2m, good) in November; her two subsequent novice runs have been on soft ground and she was a creditable second behind Tour Ovalie at Taunton (2m, soft) last month; benefits from sizeable pull in the weights with that rival today and retains potential now back on better ground for handicap debut.

All six starts on soft/heavy ground; this two-time bumper winner (including here) scored easily at Ffos Las (2m) in December on her second hurdle start before a creditable third of five in a Grade 2 mares' novice at Sandown (2m4f) last month; has potential off her opening mark, if conditions suit.

Last season started well but petered out and it might be happening again, as although it wasn't a bad run behind Cheltenham Festival heroine White Noise two starts back, Chepstow last time was underwhelming (well behind Siog Geal; soft ground no excuse).

Narrowly made a successful reappearance at Carlisle (2m1f, soft) off 5lb lower; worrying that last season petered out after starting well, though it was by no means a bad run at Newbury when 11l behind White Noise who won the Dawn Run at Cheltenham on Thursday; goes well fresh.

Sole win over hurdles came in a mares' novice at Lingfield (2m, soft) a year ago and she's still seeking her first handicap success, though she has posted some solid placed efforts, latest when a good second at Windsor (2m4f, soft) on New Year's Day; return to heavy ground will pose no problem and she's sure to be involved.

Developed into fairly useful Flat racer for George Boughey in 2024 (three wins); soundly beaten in all five hurdle races for new stable this year, the last twice in handicaps, but heavy ground would not have suited on her latest outing (first-time cheekpieces) and there is still hope she can transfer some of that Flat ability to this code; watch the betting.

Verdict

A few of these should have successful futures but none looks brighter than RULA BULA who was good in bumpers and is progressing very nicely given that she ran so well in a Listed race at Newbury last time. A repeat of that will see her tough to conquer. One line of form suggests easy Ffos Las winner Blue Las can make it interesting. The others, of whom Game Colours might be the pick, need to step up but there are future winners in this race.[Alistair Jones]
