Verdict

This has been dominated by 3yos in recent years but ASTEVERDI is taken to buck that trend. The rain in the forecast is a boost to the chance of a filly who has gained her three wins on going softer than good and Oisin Murphy has an excellent record for the Hugo Palmer stable in 2025. If one of the younger generation is to come out on top again it may well be through Mezcala, who has made good progress in her three starts and the step up to 1m2f promises to suit on handicap debut. The trip is a query for Crack Shot but his first run for James Owen was encouraging and he’ll likely be winning for his new yard soon. [Andrew Sheret]
