Won a maiden hurdle here in May but now 0-14 on the Flat, pick of recent form being Galway fourth (1m4f, soft); needs to settle better than at Tramore on latest, drops in trip.

Yet to win after eight Flat starts but took a Down Royal maiden hurdle in May; solid effort over 1m4f at Galway last month (yielding to soft); two-day break possibly to blame when disappointed over hurdles back there last time; others appeal more.

Yet to win on the Flat but took a Down Royal maiden hurdle in May; might have been unsuited by soft ground when poor in a Roscommon novice last time; solid fourth on the Flat here on Thursday.

Ex-Irish; made a fine start for his new stable when winning a Class 5 1m4f handicap at Kempton 19 days ago, drawing clear with an unexposed rival despite a steady pace; not missed with a 7lb rise but not out of the question he will kick on again.

0-6 on the Flat but he won a maiden hurdle at Tramore in April on his final start for Denis Hogan; has since been purchased for £26,000 and makes his stable/AW debut for a yard that does well with new recruits; market should be informative.

Flat maiden has run with credit in defeat in most of his 10 hurdle starts; third at Limerick last time and a repeat of that will see him go close; ground-versatile.

Decent third in a Kilbeggan 4yo maiden hurdle last month (2m3f, good); didn't back it up over 15.5f (yld-sft) at Roscommon latest; could improve on handicap debut for top yard; can't discount.

A 70-rated Flat maiden with Donnacha O'Brien last year; had two low-key runs in maiden hurdles before showing signs of progress when third at Kilbeggan 11 days ago; has the measure of Earthwatch on that evidence.

70-rated Flat maiden with Donnacha O'Brien last year; couple of underwhelming runs in maiden hurdles for current yard, latest after 7 months' absence at Downpatrick 10 days ago; may come on for that comeback run.

With her third trainer, first run for him when 40-1 and well beaten at Kempton (2m, AW) this month; overall scores are 0-8 on Flat and 0-5 over hurdles, and clearly her best Flat effort was over 2m1f last September in a first-time visor; 6lb lower today but others are still preferred.

Fair staying maiden; in decent nick over hurdles when last seen for Denis Hogan in May so she's no forlorn hope starting out for her new yard here.

Verdict

This is a weak contest. The Willie Mullins-trained Beauvallon is likely to be popular in the betting. However, despite his expensive yearling price-tag, his French Flat form and Irish debut haven’t been awe-inspiring. It represents a chance for CROOKED PATH (nap) to make the breakthrough, having hit the frame in a couple of his previous hurdle outings. [Denis Harney]
