Some sign of ability on the Flat at up to 1m4f; 80-1 when tailed off in a maiden at Clonmel where his jumping lacked any fluency.

Maiden on the Flat but has shown some ability; unseated early on hurdling debut for this yard and poor on the level since; others preferred.

Point-to-point winner yet to get his head in front under rules; promise in both chase starts and weighted to close the 7.75l gap to Joyau De Thaix who won the beginners' chase he contested at Leopardstown last time.

Point winner in 2022; still a maiden under rules; runner-up in final three starts last season (including over fences at Kilbeggan); fair seasonal debut over a trip short of his best at Navan in November (2m, soft to heavy); did well to take third over 2m4f at the same venue after running keenly; down the field on latest.

0-4 over hurdles and rated 97; best effort yet an 11l third of 16 at Sligo latest (2m2f, good) on return from a 200-day break; yard's runners always respected here and shorter trip will suit; place chance.

Second in a bumper for Andrew Balding; wasn't going to be beaten far when a late faller at Killarney, but tailed off here when last seen in October.

Verdict

Most appealing are Speculateur and KILLANEY KING with preference given to the latter because he is likely to be better value in the market, and Speculateur has failed to win as favourite in two hurdle outings. He perhaps dislikes this ground given his point win came on better. Killaney King returns to maiden hurdle company, having run decent races in a couple of handicaps. Always Scoring and Acheron are worth a market check. [Denis Harney]
