Form & Verdict
Front-runner who won three Group 3s in France for Andre Fabre (1m, testing ground) and was a very close fourth in the Group 1 Prix du Moulin at Longchamp (1m, good to soft) last September; below-par fourth on stable debut at Leopardstown (1m, good; Listed) four weeks ago but may have needed the run; of interest if rediscovering his best French form.

Classy performer for Andre Fabre; five career wins including three Group 3s and was beaten just 1l in the Group 1 Prix de Moulin on his penultimate start last September; top rated here at 114 and obvious chance if ready after break on stable debut, though might prefer softer ground.

Listed runner-up at Sandown (1m, soft) last September and third in the same grade at Haydock (7f, good) four weeks ago on reappearance; however, he was comfortably beaten in that latest start and is 0-11 since winning novice contests at Doncaster in spring 2024 on second and third starts; up against it.

None too consistent in 2025, running well when second in 1m Listed event at Sandown (soft) in September but poorly twice afterwards; returns from a layoff and may find that conditions place the emphasis too much on speed.

Form this term features a good effort, behind the subsequent QEII winner, at Sandown (Listed) on penultimate run; did too much up front latest; 2-2 over C&D (soft-ground novice wins) and looks interesting back here.

Short-headed in a Group 2 at Meydan (7f, good) in January but he needs a bigger performance if he's to take this and he hasn't been at the top of his game on his three starts since, most recently at the Curragh.

All three wins have come at 1m; back after a spell in the Emirates; not far off best when touched off by Elnajmm in the 7f Group 2 Al Fahidi Fort in January; beaten 3l in fourth behind the same horse in a Group 3 last time; blinkered first time now; not appealing at this trip.

Career-best when winning C&D Listed Amethyst Stakes in May (good), coming from well off pace; similar tactics employed in Group Desmond Stakes over C&D last month but left with too much to do when strong-finishing 1l third to front-running Johan; likely stronger pace here should suit but this looks a deeper race.

Form & Verdict
5yo who won three handicaps last year (including on heavy ground) and has been better than ever in such races this season, finishing second at Musselburgh (7f, good to soft) then fourth of 28 in the Victoria Cup at Ascot (7f, good); however, he has something to find against today's opponents.

Good second at Musselburgh (7f) with reappearance under his belt but is by no means certain to go one better off 103 in this deep field; has gained all handicap wins off marks in in the high-90s and still needs to prove he can break the triple-digit barrier.

Form & Verdict
Merely mid-division in the Group 1 QEII at Ascot (1m, good) last October and again below his best on reappearance at Sandown (1m, good) in April; however, he pulled hard last time and holds leading claims if rediscovering the form of his Group 1 City Of York win (7f, good to firm) last August; mixed messages in his form regarding the suitability of slow ground.

Did very well (3-5) last season for new stable, completing a notable summer hat-trick (7f/1m, good to firm) that culminated in Group 1 success at York; not disgraced from unfavourable draw in the QEII on final outing; may rate higher still and looks likely to go well.

Won 7f handicap (good to firm) at the Royal meeting here and followed up in the Group 2 Summer Mile on the round course here (good to firm), before landing the hat-trick in the Group 1 City Of York Stakes (7f, good to firm); they finished in a heap at York and a bigger performance is needed in this hotter Group 1, but he's highly progressive and warrants respect.

Raced almost exclusively at 7f; Group 2 winner in Ireland as a 4yo; ran close to that level when second in Longchamp Group 3 (very soft) and the Group 2 Challenge at Newmarket (good; Scoville 5.5l back in fourth) last autumn; disappointing on his 2025 reappearance but won first time up in 2023 and 2024; leading form claims.

Form & Verdict
Inconsistent and he disappointed in Listed race at Haydock (7f, good) last time; however, he reportedly lost a shoe and prior to that was an encouraging fourth on his reappearance at the Curragh (7f, soft to heavy); won this race last year (good; at its old home Haydock) and posted fine third in Group 1 Foret at Longchamp (7f, very soft) last October; player if bouncing back.

Reappeared last season with victory in the Group 3 John Of Gaunt over C&D and he signed off the campaign with a fine third in the Group 1 Foret at Longchamp; might have needed the run when fourth in Listed event at the Curragh six weeks ago; versatile in terms of the ground; solid chance.

Reappeared last season with win in Group 3 John Of Gaunt at Haydock (7f, good) in May; ran only three times subsequently; excellent display when third of 16 in the Group 1 Foret at Longchamp in October (7f, very soft); found 6f inadequate at Group 1 level on final start.

Listed winner on soft ground who won the Group 2 Lennox Stakes at Goodwood (7f, good) last July before excellent second in the Group 2 Hungerford at Newbury (7f, good to firm) in August; he's lost his form on his last four starts but perhaps wind surgery will have done the trick; wears a first-time tongue-tie and capable of having a big say if rediscovering his best.

Better than ever this year, winning Group 2 Lennox Stakes at Goodwood (7f, good) in July and running just as well when second in Group 2 Hungerford at Newbury (7f, good to firm; strong form) in August; drawn wide when down the field in the Foret at Longchamp, and may well bounce back, with this drop back to 6f unlikely to inconvenience him; possibilities.

Can front-run; his form took off once the cheekpieces went on over 7f last season, including for wins on good to firm and on soft, the latter in a Listed race at this track; reached even greater heights with his Group 2 win at Goodwood (7f, good) 18 days ago, challenging over 2f out to score at 25-1; there was an element of having the run of the race that day and he's now penalised, but the win was clearcut and he needs respect.

Verdict

The leading form contenders are ALCANTOR, Never So Brave, Ten Bob Tony and Witness Stand but none of them ran well on their last starts. Alcantor may have needed the run at Leopardstown on his first outing for Joseph O'Brien and this three-time Group 3 winner will be right at home on the forecast slow ground. Never So Brave was a Group 1 winner last season and his April comeback at Sandown might have got the freshness out of him. He is second choice ahead of Ten Bob Tony, who won this last year at the race's previous venue Haydock. A wind operation could prompt a revival from Witness Stand.[Ben Hutton]
