Poor handicap debut last month, having been gelded and undergone wind surgery, when beaten a long way at Yarmouth; maybe that was down to the rain-softened ground but it leaves him something to prove; would want to see some market support. |

Showed ability in each of his three starts last year, most recently when a 1l third of six at Newcastle (7f, AW) in September; has since undergone wind/gelding operations and he's open to further progress now switched to handicap company. |

Became his new trainer's first runner, having been picked up from Denis Quinn for 17,000gns, when faring well in first-time cheekpieces (retained) at Yarmouth three weeks ago (Dapper Guest behind); generally consistent and won't mind the stiffer 7f. |

Won at Southwell (7f, Tapeta) last summer and he posted three solid efforts on AW during the winter; returns for new trainer after three months off but he's effective on turf and seems versatile ground-wise in this sphere; dangerous in first-time cheekpieces. |

Three encouraging runs this year, all in a higher grade than this; C&D winner; interesting contender back at this level. |

All his wins have been over 7f but there's been only one of those (Epsom last August) in very nearly two years now; still paying for the ease of that win in a seven-runner race, so others are preferred. |

Signed off for George Boughey with a breakthrough 1m Lingfield success and in good form since for his current trainer, runner-up in 1m Kempton handicap 22 days ago; he can make his presence felt again. |

His win for George Boughey was achieved over a mile and his three runs for new connections have been 5f, 6f and 7f; latest Southwell run was more promising and he is one to be interested back up in distance. |

Sole win from 16 starts came at Epsom (7f, good to firm) last July; went close at Southwell (7f, AW) in April and did best of those ridden prominently when eighth of 22 at York (7f, good) three weeks ago; this drop back in trip shouldn't inconvenience him and he's considered. |

15 races for one win, at Epsom (7f, good to firm; from 9lb lower) last July; faced 7f on AW for last four starts, with career-best form in two close calls, the latest under Mikkel Mortensen at Southwell late last month but today's stronger race for return to turf surely demands better still. |

Has nothing to prove under the conditions having won five times over 7f-1m here during the winter, but they were all at Class 6 level and she may again find this sort of company a shade warm. |

She has enjoyed a productive winter for her new connections, winning five races here; last week's third (1m), while respectable, came in a lower grade against other females and she looks vulnerable today. |

Betting Forcast
11/2 Potomac River, 5/1 Stenmark, 7/2 Silver Trumpet, 7/2 Panelli, 5/2 Jersey Maverick, 10/1 Dandy Khan
Verdict
Potomac River and Stenmark drop in grade after running respectably in the same Newmarket race three weeks ago, while C&D winner Jersey Maverick (second choice) moves back up in trip after running on strongly for second over 6f last month. However, the suggestion is SILVER TRUMPET, who needs to put a below-par AW run behind him but is attractively weighted if judged on some of last year’s course form.[Chris Wilson]
