Form & Verdict
0-21; latest of his three seconds was in February in first-time cheekpieces; slipped leaving the stalls on latest start; has since left Joey Ramsden; being visored first time didn't spark anything on penultimate outing but now it's the turn of blinkers and he has one of the better chances on ratings.

19-race maiden; had a near-miss at Ffos Las (7.3f, good) last summer and was a fair fourth at Southwell (7f, AW) last week; seems tactically versatile and has each-way claims if he responds well to different headgear.

23-race maiden when she turned up for a handicap at Chepstow (6f, good to firm) 17 days ago but she won that seven-runner race, always prominent; that was a clear career best and it's striking that it was her first race at short of 6f; big player if the form is backed up.

9yo who has had 16 wins on AW, in January most recently; sole turf win (from 19 attempts) was at Yarmouth in 2022 but he came within a neck of another in a classified at same track (6f, good to firm) 18 days ago, which was the first time this year that he's worn his usual cheekpieces; has a shout if that form is repeated.

When fifth of 14 at Beverley (7.4f, good) last month he was trapped wide and failed to settle, so that run wasn't without promise, but he's since been well beaten at Newcastle (6f, AW) and is now 0-13; cheekpieces go on; plenty to prove.

0-12 and has failed to threaten on either start this year but when fifth of 14 at Beverley (7.4f, good) last Tuesday he was trapped wide and failed to settle; his best run last year came when 2l fourth at Wolverhampton (6f, Tapeta) in May off 8lb higher; the return to a sprint trip may bear fruit.

Sole win from 12 starts came at Lingfield (5f, AW) in January on penultimate outing for James Owen; comparable form in two of six turf races since for new yard and not totally disgraced on latest, so he's not entirely ruled out despite not being proven over quite this far.

Doesn't hold many secrets after 15 starts, but is 2lb lower than for his sole success at Chelmsford (6f, AW) in December and has performed well in all three starts since returned to turf, running even better than it looked when fourth of 13 from the worst draw at Lingfield (6f, good) a fortnight ago; high on list.

Betting Forcast

9/1 Bullington Bry, 50/1 Drish Samphire, 14/1 Henry Tudor, 25/1 Manhattan Chute, 2/1 Marisitta, 5/2 Sir Rodneyredblood, 16/1 Summer Rain, 5/1 Follow My Heart, 25/1 Gardening, 8/1 Rogue Rebellion, 10/1 Saeculamation

Verdict

Having made the breakthrough at long last on her latest outing, MARISITTA may now complete a double. That’s on the assumption that her Chepstow win came not just out of the blue, but because it was her first race at shorter than 7f. The veteran Sir Rodneyredblood has had extremely slim pickings on turf compared to the AW but the close call at Yarmouth on his latest outing makes him the chief danger. Follow My Heart is a lightly raced 3yo who gave some renewed hope on her latest start.[Richard Austen]
