Group 1 Lockinge winner in 2024 and Group 2 winner at Goodwood the same year; on a losing run since and ran poorly in Dubai in three starts this year; didn't fare any better at Haydock 33 days ago, fading tamely; hard to be positive about him currently. |

Group 1 Lockinge winner in 2024 but on a 12-race losing sequence and he ran badly on his last three starts in Dubai early this year; this is a drop in grade but he's proving increasingly hard to predict. |

Gallant grey veteran is an eight-time course winner and no signs of slowing down this season; won Listed race here in March (7f, sft-hvy) and another cracking run when runner up in the Group 2 Greenlands Stakes here in May (6f, good, Fregada 2.5l behind); goes on any ground, was fourth in this last year and another big run likely on the cards here. |

Splendid veteran showed he retained enthusiasm when winning the 7f Gladness Stakes in March, his ninth Curragh win on his 50th visit; found 5f too sharp at Naas last time; runs in this event for the fourth consecutive year, second at 25-1 in 2023, ninth in 2024, third behind James Delight at 33-1 last season; asking a lot now in a strong edition. |

Sole win came in Madrid Handicap at Naas (7f, soft) last year; best subsequent run came when beaten a neck by Diego Velazquez in Group 2 at the Curragh over same trip; started this year positively when 1.5l second to Big Gossey in Listed Gladness 75 days ago, deserving extra credit for where he came from; at his best on soft and big run expected. |

Three of four runs have come at Leopardstown; won maiden there last May (7f, good) and fine 2l third in Group 3 (7f, good) the following month; not seen again until respectable 3l fourth in Group 3 Ballycorus Stakes there (7f, soft) 17 days ago; sharper for that and worth a go at 1m on that evidence; could go well. |

Decent overall form since fourth in this race 12 months ago; gained first win at stakes level when taking a Listed fillies' event at Navan last month; seemed to appreciate the step up to 1m that day, but was found wanting in a deeper race at the Curragh on Irish Derby weekend. |

Gained first win at stakes level when taking a Listed fillies' heat at Naas three weeks ago (1m, good); seemed to appreciate the step up to 1m that day, but will need to improve again to make her presence felt in this deeper race. |

Capped a productive 2yo campaign by winning the valuable Goffs Million at the Curragh and a Group 3 at Leopardstown, both on softish ground (unraced on firmer than good); no better than seventh this year, facing a stiff task in the French 2,000 Guineas on latest; penalised and needs a personal best. |

Ran well in Group 2 Vintage Stakes at Goodwood; sacrificed in pacemaking role in the National Stakes (Curragh); beat 29 rivals to land the Goffs Million; followed that up with a front-running C&D Group 3 win in the Killavullan Stakes; talented apprentice is 2-2 on the Wootton Bassett colt who is effective on soft ground. |

Gained his 2yo Group 1 success over 6f then ran respectably over 7f on reappearance; midfield in the 2,000 Guineas and fourth in the Irish equivalent since upped to 1m, both times finishing behind some of today's rivals and leaving the impression he ideally needs a return to shorter; likely to be outstayed and outclassed. |

Productive juvenile campaign over sprint distances culminated in Group 1 win here from True Love in the 6f Phoenix Stakes (good); respectable second to Thesecretadversary (received 3lb), in 7f Group 3 at Leopardstown on reappearance; by no means a bad effort in the 2,000 Guineas on his first attempt at this trip, but probably more of a sprinting type. |

Verdict
Dropping down in trip and class here, the top-rated POWER BLUE appeals as the most likely winner. He was a 6f Group 1 winner here last season and has run okay in 1m Group 1s the last two times. Audience bounced back to form at Leopardstown and a repeat of that would see him go close. Course specialist Big Gossey can never be ruled out around here, while Zodiac Bear is lightly raced and there may be more to come following his Listed win here last time. [Denis Harney]
