Form & Verdict
Was threatening to become disappointing given his early promise but came good over fences on his sixth attempt at Thurles (2m5f, yielding; 100-30f), a 12l verdict that was never in doubt after travelling much the best; has a higher British mark to deal with now but he's interesting as only the second horse Gavin Cromwell has sent to Sandown (first was runner-up); should be fine at 3m.

Dual C&D winner last season, latterly when beating Latenightpass by 7l in this race (good to soft; first-time cheekpieces); seen only once this term, landing prestigious Velka Pardubicka cross-country chase in Czech Republic (4m2f, good; back in cheekpieces) in October, and has a lofty handicap mark to overcome but still commands respect; blinkers back on today.

Cross-country chasing could hardly have gone better, which augurs well, as does his markedly improved form over 3m5f in the Cheltenham version on last two outings; spending the last third of it off the bridle at the Festival last month (with first-time cheekpieces; last season's blinkers now return) is a niggling worry, and slogging it out was a taxing as well as serious achievement, but he finished well on top and can race off the same mark today; on the shortlist.

Form & Verdict
Point/hurdle winner; looks even better over fences despite a winless start (0-4), running well from 3m to 3m4f; seems to stay forever and he might just get tapped for toe over 3m around here on drying ground.

Form & Verdict
Just missed out on a third chase success when edged out at Newbury (2m6f, good to soft) on his final run of last season; worryingly below par this campaign (hurdling on reappearance) and this new headgear didn't do wonders for him at Ffos Las two months ago (3m, soft).

Without a win since 2021 but comes here after two very respectable thirds on slow ground at Carlisle (3m) this year and will appreciate this ease in grade; probably won't be far away.

Career win number ten when staying on best to beat five rivals over C&D (good) in December and then ran fairly well in Plumpton's Sussex National; remains on a competitive mark and should go close.

Form & Verdict
Looked good in winning twice in the mud at Lingfield (2m7f/2m4f) last season; reportedly bled when pulled up on reappearance and ran better to be a 12l third at Kempton (2m4f, soft); does have decent form on good to soft but a softer surface would be preferred.

One-timer useful hurdler/chaser for Gary Moore; not quite the force of old, but won two small-field points on good ground last year; creditable third in a point last time; each-way chance.

Soundly beaten in a match at Fontwell (2m5f, heavy) last time but he bumped into a rejuvenated rival, who has followed up, and he's now dropped below his last winning mark; the testing conditions are right up his street and he's one to consider in first-time cheekpieces.

Tailed off in Aintree's Becher last time despite competing off a 15lb lower mark than when fourth the year before; current wellbeing is a cause for concern but too well handicapped to leave out of calculations.

Consistent gelding who just missed out over 3m4f at Haydock before running perfectly well in a deep Cheltenham handicap (3m2f; again soft; fine on good); stuck on a tough mark but looks a good bet to give his running.

Hampered when unseating in an open point at neighbouring Howick last month, and generally a safe ride; both handicap chase wins (from 17 starts over fences) have come over Wincanton's 3m1f on ground softer than good, and the drying forecast isn't strictly ideal.

Rated much higher in the past so Newbury last time was disappointing (3m2f, good to soft) after going up just 3lb for winning a small-field handicap at Wincanton (3m1f, soft); getting back on soft ground should help and he'll stay okay.
