Tailed off on his debut (favourite) but made amends with a Hereford win ten days ago (four ran); form questionable but he has advantage of experience to offset his 7lb penalty; both runs on good ground.

Late gains (after being hampered) when fourth of 15 in an Exeter bumper ten days ago; that racecourse experience could be vital now that he tackles hurdles for the first time.

Made it two wins in a row when scoring on handicap debut at Chepstow (2m, good to soft) in October and improved form in defeat the next twice, most recently third in 4yo Grade 3 at Fairyhouse (2m, yielding) in November; others may have greater potential but he might not be far away.

Drew nicely clear to make winning handicap debut at Chepstow (2m, good to soft) last month; took a giant leap forward when splitting Givemefive and Bottler'secret at Cheltenham; had the fitness edge that day but is worth his place in the field.

Was looking held when running out at the final flight on last month's debut (race won by Summer Night City); could well finish much closer to that rival but Harry Skelton jumps ship.

Unbeaten in six since February 2025, encompassing 2m4f-3m contests around various track and going types; effortless transition to hunter chases at Ludlow latest (2m4f, good), and although patiently ridden there his proven ability at making all might yet come in handy down in trip.

Has a mountain to climb on BHA ratings but his was earned over hurdles and he's been going great guns in points during the past 12 months or so; it's also worth bearing in mind that in late 2024 he got to within 3l of this month's Cheltenham Festival hero Barton Snow in a 3m point; only a 6yo and could run well.

Scored with a tongue-tie added at Plumpton (2m4f, good to soft) last month and he ran to a similar level when a 2l third at Wincanton (2m4f, good) last time; has been as good as ever in those last two runs and he won this race last year; respected.

Back in prime form when scoring in first-time tongue-tie at Plumpton (2m4f, good to soft; front pair clear) a fortnight ago and now 4-10 over hurdles; recent 4lb rise does not look excessive and he should be fine on the faster ground here; likely contender.

Pulled up on seasonal debut but fared better when fourth (albeit tired and well held in the end) at Wincanton (2m4f, soft) in January and is now only 1lb higher than for last spring's Fontwell win (2m5f, good); contender if aided by new tongue-tie.

Home-bred; first foal and dam a hurdle/chase winner (2m3f-2m6f); doesn't appear precocious on paper but represents a powerful stable that is firmly among the winners; needs a second look.

In excellent hands but has failed to progress from her Fakenham win last November; well beaten at Worcester (14-1) on handicap/seasonal debut; something to prove.

Didn't show much here on debut before winning easily at Fakenham (2m, good to soft) when Circle Of Hope was well behind; this is clearly much easier than her latest Listed assignment at Aintree where the ground was heavy; not the easiest to assess and she does have a penalty.

Verdict

The hurdling form on show doesn’t add up to much and the most promising racecourse display is probably Dodger Long’s fourth in an Exeter bumper. He could prove good enough but Harry Fry’s newcomer VALADON is given the nod.[Jonathan Neesom]
