10yo who isn't the same force as last year and may not want soft ground, but he's performed respectably in hot handicaps on his last few starts and is on a dangerous mark now dropping back down in grade; possible player.

Top-of-the-trees in the best sprint handicaps down the years, winning the Stewards' Cup in 2020 and the Gold Cup in 2022; failed to beat a rival here 12 months ago but the weight has fallen off his back since and his run at the Curragh last week was encouraging; could well have a decent crack at this; refitted cheekpieces replace regular visor.

Form & Verdict
Capable of useful form, such as his second at Chester (7.5f) in May; however, still a maiden (0-14) and looks difficult to support with confidence in this competitive field, especially as he ran poorly last time.

Showed some smart form in defeat in his younger days, finishing fourth of eight behind Auguste Rodin in the Group 1 Vertem Futurity; runner-up three times last year, but failed to beat a rival on last month's Kempton return (7f, AW) and is now 0-18; best watched.

Form & Verdict
Very useful 6f performer, especially on AW; ran respectably in Newcastle Group 3 last time; has bits of 7f form but he'll be thoroughly tested in this hot handicap on a stiff track returned to turf.

Four-time AW winner who has finished close up on Tapeta (5f/6f) in his last three runs; record of 1-26 on turf but he's on a lower mark in this sphere and he ran well in the Great St Wilfrid at Ripon (6f, good to firm) last summer; dangerous.

Three-time C&D winner, including this race in 2024 off a 2lb higher mark, and he has shaped well on his last two starts; he will need luck if it gets congested up the stands' rail but too much ability to rule out.

Form & Verdict
Acts on soft and good to firm; has raced exclusively at 6f; somewhat frustrating but did well to finish a close third in the Wokingham at Royal Ascot most recently, rattling home having come from a difficult position and been forced to switch; interesting with this new trip well worth exploring.

Looked the proverbial Group horse in a handicap when sauntering to success over C&D in May 2023 on soft ground; more bad days than good since then but flashes last season that he was still a top-notch sprinter on his day, as when third in the Wokingham off a 6lb higher mark than today's; no better than midfield in two feature handicaps this summer but he didn't run too badly at Goodwood and he has too much ability to discount under these conditions.

Has let his supporters down in a host of top handicaps since looking to have the sprinting scene at his mercy in early 2023; has run to form only sporadically in the last two years but his good days are still very good, as when third in last season's Wokingham off a 3lb higher mark; never threatened in this year's Wokingham but it was after an absence and better can be expected this afternoon; stable won this in 2015 and 2019.

Made a very bright start to his handicap career when winning twice in the spring of 2023 before a never-nearer sixth of 27 in this race; maddeningly in and out since but he was nevertheless an excellent close third in this (good to firm) under Saffie Osborne 12 months ago and the lack of a recent run isn't necessarily a drawback; no surprise to see his grey head loom up late.
