Form & Verdict
Ended last season over hurdles with back-to-back wins at Chepstow and Bangor (2m7f, soft and heavy); made a promising start over fences when 2l second of nine back at Chepstow (2m7f, good to soft) four weeks ago, jumping soundly bar a mistake at the last; should have no problem with this longer trip and may well go one better.

In the last 13 months he's won Cheltenham's NH Chase (3m6f), the Irish National (3m5f), a hurdle race, Welsh National (near 3m7f; 12lb higher today) and a Newbury Grade 2; no way can he be ruled out, particularly as he finished well on top in those four chases, but there have also been two major blips this season; latest was in the Cheltenham Gold Cup, for which he was just 6-1 and made most but went to nothing turning for home (writing on the wall four out); however, he's bounced back before, the likely tempo of this race can suit him better and the trip looks like doing so as well.

Prominent-racer who won the NH Chase (Handicap) at this meeting 12 months ago (3m6f, good to soft) and bounced back from November's Betfair Chase flop to win the Welsh National (3m6f, good to soft) and also the Grade 2 Denman Chase (2m7f, heavy); this highly progressive 9yo is now 6-8 over fences and should prove well suited to the demands of today's race, all the more so if there's rain and stamina is at a premium; firmly in calculations.

Superbly progressive novice last term, winning Cheltenham's NH Chase (3m6f, good to soft) and the Irish National (3m5f, soft to heavy); hurdles win here in November before something seemed amiss in a Grade 1 at Haydock 16 days later, but he bounced back from that with a sparkling display to dominate the Welsh National (3m6f) six weeks ago; that was another serious advance and he looks like earning his place in top Graded races after this.

Form & Verdict
Improved when winning handicap hurdles at Wetherby and Bangor (both 2m3f on soft) early in 2024; 2m on good was probably an inadequate test when he trailed home last of three on chasing debut at Uttoxeter, and he jumped and hung left when pulled up at Carlisle (6-4 favourite) four weeks later; something to prove now, including his stamina, but it's too early to be writing him off as a chaser and this return to a left-handed track could help.

1-6 over fences, the success at Aintree (2m4f) on seasonal debut; seemed a non-stayer in the Welsh National before eventually falling, then ran below form at Cheltenham (2m4f); return to this venue may have a positive effect but he ideally needs assistance from the weather, having gained all wins on soft ground.

Made much of the running when winning in dominant style at Aintree (2m4f, soft) in December; beaten when falling late on in the Welsh National three weeks later, lack of stamina a possible factor; back to a more suitable trip here but now off a career-high mark and others appeal more.

Form & Verdict
Progressive over hurdles last season, winning three races, the third a competitive handicap at Sandown (2m4f, good); immediately showed a similar level of form over fences when fourth of six at Uttoxeter (2m4f, good to soft) three weeks ago, giving the impression he needed the run; has stamina to prove over today's much longer trip but otherwise he has solid credentials.

Ran quite well in the Pertemps Final and then runner-up in a big field handicap here in April (2m4f, good to soft; in this new headgear combination), improving on his fifth place the previous season; also ran second to Fingal's Hill in this 12 months ago; has nothing in hand off his mark but every chance of being involved.

Ran respectably in this race 12 months ago (fifth off 3lb higher) and Cheltenham Festival handicap (3m) latest start; otherwise an exposed 8yo who is on a two-year losing spell; unlikely to come out on top.

Last won in April 2024; well beaten in the 2m5f handicap here last March; second to Absolutely Doyen at Wincanton (3m, good to soft) at Christmas was best effort this term; ran creditably in the Lanzarote at Kempton (2m5f) next time, before a modest show at Plumpton latest; others look more solid.

Form & Verdict
Ultimately disappointing over hurdles in 2023-24 for Nigel Twiston-Davies, including in cheekpieces and a visor, although he was impressive on his reappearance over 3m here last autumn; now makes his chasing debut after nearly seven months off for a new yard; impossible to rule out.

Two wins over hurdles for previous yard; early faller at Aintree in November switched to fences for new stable and is best watched in this warm race.
