Form & Verdict
Won two novice hurdles in a row last winter (2m4f, heavy/soft) before finishing tailed off in a Grade 1 at Aintree (3m, good to soft; didn't settle) when last seen in April; his trainer has high hopes for him over fences and this unexposed 6yo could play a leading role on this chase/handicap debut.

Winless away from galloping tracks, but recorded some of his best RPRs in Graded chases around Kempton and the Mildmay Course; still capable of fairly useful form little more than a year ago, and right in the mix if racing more sparingly with the hood debuted latest quickly discarded.

Has made the frame in a couple of points this winter for new yard; fairly useful for previous stable and, accordingly, is one of the main players on ratings in this hunter chase debut; hood applied.

Form & Verdict
Ex-Irish 6yo who built upon his pleasing stable debut when winning a five-runner Hexham handicap hurdle (2m4f, good to soft) in refitted cheekpieces in September; found out in a deeper race at Aintree since; now switches to fences (pulled up in sole point); headgear off.

Narrow winner at Carlisle in April (2m3.5f, good; second had won two previous races); has not fared quite as well since, including with a visor tried at Uttoxeter last time; regular cheekpieces back on here but he needs to bounce back now back up in trip (stays 3m well).

Form & Verdict
Looked useful when making a winning start over hurdles at Lingfield (2m3f, soft) just over a year ago; his two subsequent outings last season were a touch underwhelming but he retains potential now chasing (second in Irish point) after wind surgery; stable gets a lot of winners here.

Looked very good when winning at Lingfield (2m3f, soft) in October 2021; unable to reproduce that promise since but his recent 14l third at Bangor (2m3f, good to soft) wasn't devoid of promise and this longer trip may be a plus; continues to drop down the weights and he's an each-way possible.

Form & Verdict
Point winner in 2019 who was the wide-margin winner of a 2m5f Huntingdon maiden hurdle (good) in May 2021; not seen again until finishing 12l third in a 2m4f Wetherby novice hurdle (soft) in January and absent again since; possibly not the easiest to train but he has potential as a chaser.

Off the mark at the fourth attempt in Irish maiden points (3m, soft) in December 2020; looked a useful prospect when first and second in novice hurdles around 2m5f (good to soft/soft) at the beginning of 2021 but not seen since; has had wind surgery; top yard wouldn't have any difficulty readying one after an absence and it'll be interesting to see how strong he is in the betting.

Point winner who looked promising when landing a novice hurdle at Warwick (2m5f, soft) in February 2021; first-fence faller at Uttoxeter last month when back from a long absence and he may have needed the run when back over hurdles at Chepstow three weeks ago (tailed off); in top hands and has a first-time tongue-tie, but nevertheless has plenty to prove.

Looked very promising during two-race novice hurdle campaign in 2020-21 but wasn't seen again until falling at first fence on last month's chase/handicap debut; quickly switched back to hurdling here and remains unexposed but not an easy horse to weigh up at present.

Form & Verdict
Dual hurdle winner last season, the latter in handicap company at Hexham (2m4f, good to soft) in April; very much the type to do even better over fences (chased home the useful Arizona Cardinal in an Irish point at start of career) but his yard's lack of winners this autumn/winter is enough reason to look elsewhere on this first attempt.

Moved to this yard last season and won three in a row towards the end of last year (2m4f/3m, good to soft/soft); disappointing subsequently but perhaps a break will have helped and he's down to a handy mark; interesting to see how he goes in the betting.

Verdict

Not an easy puzzle to solve given that the majority are making their chase debut and reappearance but it’s a very interesting contest. Gloire D’Athon is one who definitely arrives in form and has proven he can do it over fences so he’s not opposed lightly but BOWTOGREATNESS quickly reached a useful level over hurdles last winter and appeals as one to go on to even better things over fences, particularly given his stable has enjoyed such a good first half of the season.
