Half-brother to useful chasers Viva Steve and Dublin Four; dam German Flat and fairly useful British hurdle winner; placed in two soft-ground Irish points this year and looks an interesting recruit for Donald McCain.

Won this last year (soft) on his reappearance and ran well in the main subsequently, finishing fourth here in March when last seen (2m3f, good to soft); can have a big say if handling conditions (unraced on good ground).

Headed towards the finish when second on his C&D debut (soft) in December 2020; quite useful hurdler Lunar Sovereign was behind in third so the form has a bit of a substance but he hasn't been seen since.

Placed on all three starts, achieving his best RPR when third at Hexham (good to soft) last time; likely to be thereabouts but probably vulnerable for the win again unless finding some improvement.

Adaptable regarding ground and tactics; this looks less competitive than the Ffos Las 0-65 in which he finished second last time (hampered; two of these behind) and his claims are obvious.

Done a lot of his winning later in the year but offered more in the returning blinkers last time, back from a couple of months off; boasts a decent record when dipping below 0-70 company and won't mind any rain.

Form & Verdict
Sent off favourite for his Chepstow debut (2m, good) last month but faded into fifth after giving some trouble in the preliminaries; evidently thought capable of better and his trainer won this race in 2016 and 2017 (also had the second last year).

Verdict

It might be worth siding with THATZA DAZZLER to leave his Chepstow debut behind as the fact he went off favourite suggests he’s thought capable of better by his good yard. Merrijig has been placed on all three starts but doesn’t set the bar high, while Kankin hasn’t been seen since his C&D debut second in December 2020 so it could be that the chief threat comes from Donald McCain’s point recruit Blue Fin.
