Form & Verdict
Didn't kick on last season after winning the Grade 1 Long Walk at Ascot (3m, good to soft) on his reappearance but he still managed a highly respectable fourth in the Stayers' Hurdle at Cheltenham and has an excellent record at Newbury; has won on good ground; big player on return to action.

Veteran; smart in his prime but his two efforts this term fall well short of his peak form; beaten twice in this race (third in 2022, fifth in 2023) and is unlikely to make it third time lucky unless first-time headgear has a significant effect.

Form & Verdict
Won this last year, when improving for his reappearance run in Wetherby Grade 2; 10l second to Proschema in that same Wetherby race last month and could pose more of a threat today, but it's a hotter race than 12 months ago and he'll need some of the others to underperform.

Made his name over hurdles but he's 2-6 over fences and 3m on soft ground is right up his alley; it was quite comfortable when he accounted for Mill Green and Aye Right over C&D in November and a 4lb rise is not the end of the world; he's not your typical veteran chaser being so lightly raced in this discipline.

Form & Verdict
Solid handicap hurdler in 2020-21 and he's evolved into a talented and consistent staying chaser, who has run well in defeat in some tough handicaps; however, he has something to find in this field now back over hurdles.

Given the level of form he was showing in good handicaps earlier this season he's been bitterly disappointing in two hunter chases, coming up short at odds of 4-9 and 2-11 (latterly behind Captain Tommy); has been wearing these aids separately and now they're combined, but he remains unconvincing.

Ran well in three strong handicap chases before suffering a surprise odds-on defeat on his hunter chase debut at Warwick, where he appeared to have it in the bag before either idling or tiring late on (3m, soft); that was very much a missed opportunity but he's still the one to beat here; first-time tongue-tie replaces cheekpieces.

Form & Verdict
Posted a career-best when easily winning a Grade 2 at Wetherby (3m, good to soft) last month, with Thomas Darby 10l back in second; also effective on good ground; had the benefit of a recent run last time and now faces classier opposition, but he was certainly impressive and has to be considered.

2m5f Grade 1 chase winner who won a 2m4f handicap hurdle off top weight here last December; untested at this trip but it's worth a go and he's entitled to respect in receipt of 6lb from his main rivals; showed his wellbeing when winning conditions hurdle on recent reappearance at Aintree.

Close second in the 2023 Stayer's Hurdle at Cheltenham but didn't fare nearly so well in the latest running of that prize and he was a distant sixth in this contest 12 months ago; although a good stayer on his day, he's not the percentage call.

Ran a stormer at 40-1 when close second to Sire Du Berlais in this race last year (soft); in solid form this term, winning the Grade 2 Long Distance Hurdle at Newbury (3m, good to soft) before making the frame in the Grade 1 Long Walk at Ascot (3m, good) and Grade 2 Cleeve here (3m, good to soft); he's 11 now and needs to build on this season's efforts, but his cause may be aided if he's back on soft ground; he's an each-way possible once more.
