Form & Verdict
Has returned better than ever this season, winning comfortably on his Sandown reappearance and has posted the same RPR of 148 in his subsequent defeats (also handicaps); has a bit to find on the figures with Boothill but not a lot and he ran well after his previous wind operation; stable seeking a 15th success in this race.

Last season went well, producing career-best form in winning the Grade 2 Pendil Chase at Kempton (2m4f, good; fine on soft) in February before his only blip all campaign at Sandown; excellent jumper who goes well fresh and his trainer always targets this race (won it eight times).

Launched his season with a win here in November and, following wind surgery, he was mighty impressive in enhancing his trainer's remarkable record in the Grade 2 Pendil Chase at Kempton (2m4f, good) when his jumping out in front was a joy to behold (form was franked last weekend); has something to find on the figures but he's been in career-best form and is dangerously fresh; seems fine on all ground.

Form & Verdict
Receiving 3lb off Boothill when pushing him to within a length at Newton Abbot in October; easy to make a case on that form and he's gone on to better things, notably when second-best to a class act in an always-strong Cheltenham 2m4f handicap on Trials Day; he's not always foot-perfect at his fences and can hit flat spots mid-race, but his ability is much respected.

Unraced beyond an extended 2m4f and this is a tough race in which to test his stamina; however, he was strong at the finish when winning a Grade 2 novice at Ayr (2m4f, good) in April and may well have staying potential; might have needed his reappearance in the Old Roan and is not ruled out.

Consistent novice chaser last season, apart from a blip at the Cheltenham Festival (soft); bagged Grade 2 honours at Ayr (2m4f, good; form boosted since) on final start; could well show further progress this term; major contender.

Form & Verdict
Things have clicked in a big way over fences this season; beat the Betfair Hurdle winner in a 2m Grade 2 here over Christmas and that effort is flanked by respectable efforts behind top-notchers Jonbon and Tommy's Oscar (latterly on good ground); faces nothing of their calibre here and returning to 2m4f shouldn't be a problem; solid claims despite the penalty.

Has a record of 3-3 in handicap chases, including two notable wins over C&D, namely in this race last year (good) and the Byrne Group on reappearance (soft), latter by 4l; open to further progress and gives the impression he'll cope with this career-high mark; highly respected.

Strong traveller who was penalised and didn't get home over 2m4f when a beaten favourite on final run in February; things had clicked in a big way prior to that, with his 2m Grade 2 win at Kempton (soft) flanked by seconds to top-notchers Jonbon and Tommy's Oscar; 2-2 in handicap chases (including C&D) and peak RPRs suggest this mark is not beyond him.

Form & Verdict
Useful hurdler but a much better chaser, raising her RPRs considerably in winning easily over C&D and then taking a competitive handicap for mares at Wincanton; latest Huntingdon defeat provided a reality check but that was a very useful Listed event; dangerous to dismiss; seems fine on all ground.

Won towards the end of last year on first two chase starts (2m4f, good to soft) and kept on for creditable fourth in Cheltenham handicap (2m4f, good) in April when last seen; has had wind op since; improvement needed on reappearance but she's only six and could appreciate this first crack at 3m.

Form & Verdict
His narrow verdict in the first-time cheekpieces over 2m2f here (handicap on good ground) 15 days ago tells only half the story as he looked booked for third when making a mess of two out; did well to win all things considered but this is considerably tougher; stays 2m4f.

Won over C&D (good) in first-time cheekpieces in February and doubled chasing tally at Market Rasen (2m1f, good to soft) in April; not quite able to reel in Mercian Prince over C&D on latest outing in May but drew nicely clear of the others and was nudged up only another 1lb for that run.
