Form & Verdict
Runner-up on hurdle debut at Newton Abbot (2m1f, good) last October then went one better at Kempton (2m, good to soft), narrowly beating Spirit D'Aunou; it was a Grade 2 in which he was soundly beaten at Chepstow (2m, soft) over Christmas and he has strong claims now back down in grade.

Won twice as a novice last season and ended up in the National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham (tailed off after racing freely); this campaign is going well and he should stay okay as he wasn't stopping when runner-up over Exeter's super-stiff 3m6f in December (soft); the race he won at Wincanton last time (3m1f, heavy; cheekpieces returned) rather fell apart but he did hack up and the 6lb rise could been a whole lot worse; it's a nagging concern that all five wins have been on right-handed tracks but there's lots to like otherwise about this 7yo.

Dual chase winner who goes well in the mud and he could have done with slower ground when a 6l third over C&D on Boxing Day (good to soft); entitled to step up on that effort here and enters the reckoning.

Scored at Exeter (3m, good to soft) in October on second attempt over fences and brushed two lesser efforts aside with a game, front-running win in first-time cheekpieces at Taunton (2m7f, soft) five weeks ago; up 4lb but stays 3m well and could have more to offer.

Close fourth of 17 at in the Imperial Cup at Sandown (2m, good to soft) last March and now 5lb lower; it was his chase debut when pulled up at Lingfield in November but he nevertheless arrives with something to prove regarding his current form; wears first-time cheekpieces.

Form & Verdict
Fair third of five on debut at Kelso (2m, heavy) in January then soundly beaten fourth of six at Wetherby (2m, good) three weeks ago; things may click at some point but he needs improvement if he's to win this.

Well treated on his hurdle win at Newcastle (2m7f, heavy) last March but he's had only five runs since and has struggled in all of them; didn't get very far on only previous run over fences and has plenty to prove back in this sphere after 204 days off; stablemate of Killybegs Jet Lady.

Form & Verdict
Kicked before the start on his debut in a bumper at Ayr (2m, soft) last month and he's open to improvement on this second outing; however, he was down the field at 18-1 and a big step forward is needed.

Likely to have had a major say in the outcome but for the late voiding of a race at Newcastle (2m4f, heavy) in March; let down by his hurdling both subsequent starts; tackles a new trip but is capable of being involved from an easing mark, in a newly applied tongue-tie, if hurdling slicker.

Form & Verdict
Beaten 24l when second of eight on debut in a bumper at Exeter (2m, heavy) on New Year's Day and it's hard to quantify the strength of that form; however, she was sent off at just 7-2 and there was certainly a bit of promise in that performance; could go well on first hurdle start.

Achieved little when runner-up behind an easy winner on her bumper debut here and has been tailed off in all three hurdles; entitled to show more now handicapping off a basement mark but hard to be confident.

Verdict

Previous winners JUPITER ALLEN and Tintintin are fairly closely matched on formlines through Spirit D’Aunou and narrow preference is for the Jane Williams-trained Kempton winner Jupiter Allen, who drops back down in grade having found a Grade 2 too much at Chepstow over Christmas. Bumper runner-up Grumpy Rosie is not ruled out on her hurdle debut.[Ben Hutton]
