Form & Verdict
Improved from her sole 2yo run to finish third of 13 (beaten roughly 2l) in a fillies' maiden at the Curragh on return; couldn't build on that back at Leopardstown last time and unproven on softer ground but can't be ruled out.

Arguably lucky to avoid a rise in the ratings for a 1m4f maiden win last month; not guaranteed to stay as well as some of these rivals but merits respect.

Exposed maiden but C&D second in December looks the standout piece of form in this modest maiden; this looks her best opportunity yet.

Form & Verdict
Kept fairly busy as a juvenile and has shown she's trained on this term; was beaten roughly 4l on her first try at this trip when runner-up in a Bellewstown maiden last month; looks a bit more exposed than some of these; visor fitted on debut for new yard (bought for 26,000gns).

Consistent over hurdles for current yard; successful in last two Flat turf attempts, latest at Musselburgh (12.5f, good) last month returned to this code; 1-1 over 1m6f and warrants respect.

Won over 1m6f at Salisbury (good to soft) for Daisy Hitchins last summer; has been running creditably in defeat over hurdles since joining Tristan Davidson, including placed twice here; leading claims back on the Flat in a race where her rivals have something to prove.

Ready Kempton winner (2m novices' handicap, good) for Daisy Hitchins last October; consistent for Tristan Davidson (366233), giving her best when a close third in the Sea Pigeon Series Final at Musselburgh (2m1f, good to soft) recently; 2lb higher but bang there with repeat.

Form & Verdict
Very consistent filly who has hit the frame in each of her last five starts including her handicap debut last month at Galway; showed she handled testing ground that day and looks like a leading contender here.

Didn't make the cut for the amateur handicap over 2m1f at Galway where she ran well in 1m4f handicap at last year's festival; good comeback over 1m5f at Navan in April and missed 1m7f engagement last month due to quick ground; trainer obviously thinks she'll stay and chance under talented claimer if she can get her toe in.

Form & Verdict
Marked improvement from her debut to finish fourth at the Curragh in June (form that was boosted subsequently) and it was another step forward when runner-up in a Galway festival maiden 15 days ago; that was a good effort from the front and should be a major player if she handles these more testing conditions.

Five-race maiden who took a backward step when never involved at Tramore last time on handicap debut; however, still early days and not ruled out on AW debut having shaped with promise in maidens over this trip.

Verdict

There is every chance that Astar will run her race again and she proved that she can handle testing conditions at the Galway festival. However, DELICATE GIRL is narrowly preferred. She needs to prove that she can act in conditions but given her progression with each run, any further progress would make her hard to beat. [Phill Anderson]
