Form & Verdict
Won Leicester seller (1m4f, soft) in May but has very mixed record for current stable and was safely held after racing far too freely over hurdles here in June; returns from a break today; others are more persuasive.

Bang-in-form mare who has won her last two over C&D (heavy/soft); has little margin for error after latest 3lb rise but still commands respect.

Form & Verdict
Four-time winner but not since 2011 and not beyond 7f; not beaten far when sixth on seasonal debut at Windsor (11.4f, good to firm) in May, having raced freely in the lead and built up a good lead, but not seen again since; others look much safer.

Form & Verdict
Improved to make winning handicap debut at Wolverhampton (9.4f, AW) in January then ran well in defeat over same C&D in April; remains lightly raced but this turf debut comes after a 169-day absence and it's hard to know what she'll make of the ground.

Placed four times in a row before her pair of 11.6f wins at Bath in August, and was denied a clear run when third at Goodwood (1m3f, good to soft) last month; also has form on soft ground (unraced on heavy); likely to be on the premises once again.

Made light of a lengthy absence when winning over C&D (good to soft; made most) from Locked Down Lad and Highbury Hill in November but he couldn't repeat the form at Fontwell (about 2m1f, heavy; has form on that surface) last month; well worth another chance back over C&D.

Dominated from the front at Ffos Las (2m, good) in May and has largely remained in good form since; well held when second in selling handicap at Stratford (2m2f, good) this month but the winner has performed well in much stronger company since; probably won't be far away.

Verdict

Very consistent mare Lhebayeb (second choice) seems still to be making steady progress, while City Escape has collected two recent C&D handicaps on slow ground and is another with strong claims. However, the most interesting runner is arguably GAVIN, who has done well over hurdles since the spring and now attempts to exploit his lowly Flat mark.[Chris Wilson]
