Form & Verdict
Progressed well last season over hurdles from 2m to 3m, culminating with top-level honours at Punchestown; promises to be even better over fences if judged on his taking display back at Punchestown last month (2m3f, soft) when dominant from a long way out in beating Inothewayurthinkin by an eased-down 15l; hard to resist on the back of that.

Confirmed his staying power with Bowl win at Aintree last year; got his campaign off to a fine start with John Durkan victory from Fact To File over 2m4f here; third in a blanket finish in the King George before 5l second to a restored Fact To File at Leopardstown; travelled powerfully for stunningly impressive Gold Cup triumph to leap-frog Fact To File in the ratings.

Won the Arkle here (2m, soft) in March 2024 and relished the step up to 3m1f in the Grade 1 Bowl at Aintree (good to soft) last April; that win has been the catalyst for a string of excellent efforts, including his third in a blanket finish in the King George (3m, good to soft) in December and his 5l second in the Irish Gold Cup (3m, soft) last month; can be difficult to settle which is something of a concern in view of today's stiff stamina test, but on the flip side he's been finishing his races strongly; respected.

Won the Arkle at Cheltenham in 2024; kept at shorter distances until impressive in the Grade 1 Bowl at Aintree (3m1f, good to soft) last April; ended the campaign with a fine Sandown win and began again in style, edging out Fact To File in the John Durkan; third in a thrilling King George; will need to settle better to maximise his chance at this track.

More than held his own in Grade 1s as a novice hurdler last season and jumped well in the main en route to a successful chase debut at Thurles (2m2f, yielding) when comfortably repelling respected opposition at odds-on; today's company will test his mettle but he's hard to knock.

Ground versatile; not the biggest in stature but a hugely talented performer who has won eight of his 11 chase starts, including six Grade 1s; bolted up in the Champion Chase on latest, immediately bouncing back from a rare blip at Sandown; won a Grade 1 novice over C&D at this meeting last year and he's preferred by Townend; leading chance.

Acts on any ground; small in stature but big in talent and his record of 7-10 over fences features five Grade 1 wins, the most recent impressively in this season's Tingle Creek at Sandown; not bombproof in this scenario as he's 0-3 at the Cheltenham Festival (finishing positions 553) and was let down by his jumping in the 2024 Arkle, admittedly posting a good placed effort in the circumstances; possible denting of confidence is another concern as he was winded and took a while to get up from a late fall in the Clarence House most recently (under pressure and not responding when the tumble occurred); removal of usual hood adds to the uncertainty; otherwise a huge player provided he's in top form.

Hugely likeable chaser who made it 7-9 over fences when slamming Jonbon by 9l in the Grade 1 Tingle Creek at Sandown (1m7f, good to soft; fine on softer) six weeks ago; that represented another personal best and he's the clear pick on the ratings; has excellent credentials.

Form & Verdict
Useful novice hurdler without being in Gaelic Warrior's league and he chased that rival in vain on his second chase start at Punchestown last month (2m3f, soft; first-time tongue-tie that's now dispensed with); difficult to envisage him reversing those placings even if ridden more positively.

Inothewayurthinkin

Cheltenham Gold Cup winner last year; no sign of best form on his first three runs this term; repeated previous Cheltenham trend of leaving winter form behind to finish third in the Gold Cup, despite not jumping particularly well; 0-4 at this venue and was trounced by Gaelic Warrior here as a novice; will need to catch the big two on an off-day.

Disappointing on his three runs this term and a major turnaround is required; however, he's left his winter form behind to win at the Cheltenham Festival in each of the last two seasons (soft/good to soft), including this race last year by 6l, and he attracted market support last week; cheekpieces go on and he'll be tough to beat if rediscovering his brilliant best.

Last year's Cheltenham Gold Cup winner; had failed to test Galopin Des Champs in two C&D clashes before justifying his supplementary entry by denying the Mullins-trained star a Gold Cup hat-trick; found the trip inadequate in the John Durkan; stable's relatively poor form at the time offers a partial excuse for a lifeless run in the Savills; plenty to prove all the same.

Form & Verdict
Last season over hurdles was underwhelming given the level of form he showed in bumpers (second at the Cheltenham Festival) but always appealed as the type to do well over fences and he made an impressive start at Navan (2m4f, soft to heavy) when accounting for the smart Fact To File; should make his presence felt.

Very smart 3m-winning chaser for Gordon Elliott in 2024/25; also scored over fences for current yard at Perth (3m) in April but beat just one when tried in cheekpieces in 2m4f handicap chase at Uttoxeter 18 days ago; reverts to hurdles off a 7lb lower mark but still has something to prove.

Classy customer in these colours for Gordon Elliott; only his fourth run for current yard when forcing a dead-heat at Perth (3m, good; 3lb lower) and he's versatile trip-wise; likely contender in new cheekpieces.

Form & Verdict
Inferior to some of these as a hurdler but he's the most experienced over fences, taking strike-rate to 3-6 in a match at Navan (2m4f, soft) 11 days ago; one line of form from his previous race puts him on a par with Inothewayurthinkin who has a lot to find with Gaelic Warrior.

Competitively campaigned in the past year, often in small-field conditions race; third in the Kerry National and filled the same position in a Grade 2 at Down Royal; out of his depth in a 2m Grade 3 event at Naas before an excellent display in finishing second in the Troytown Chase.
