1-17 over fences; best efforts on testing ground; on the slide in the handicap since last winning nearly 16 months ago; placed several times during that spell, including at Wincanton (1m7f, heavy; first-time tongue-tie and cheekpieces) latest; not ruled out down again in grade.

Form & Verdict
Bumper winner (good to soft) who was sent off as the favourite here on his handicap debut over hurdles last November, when finishing third; swiches to this discipline after just three hurdles starts; drops 2lb; on a workable mark if he takes to chasing.

Four chase wins, the latest from the front off reduced mark at Southwell (2m4f, good to soft) in February; just a respectable third of five at Wincanton (2m4f, good to soft) last month but could be hard to catch if able to dominate here.

Showed the benefit of a wind op when making all to exploit reduced mark at Southwell (2m4f, good to soft) last month; went back up 8lb for that but this right-handed track should also suit; likely contender.

Form & Verdict
2m2f chase winner (soft; raced prominently) last April, when 2lb lower; would have gone close but for unseating over C&D next time but has been well below par since (beaten 16l when favourite latest); down in grade; not written off but has a bit to prove.

Opened his chase account at Fontwell (2m2f) last April but he's failed to kick on subsequently, well held in second when unseating 2 out at Plumpton (2m1f) four weeks ago; his mark is slipping but more is needed.

Form & Verdict
Placed in four of her seven chases, including on her penultimate start at Fakenham (2m, good to soft), when 5lb higher; well beaten at Lingfield (2m, good to soft) latest, since when she has had wind surgery; reappears with new headgear and on a handy mark but also plenty to prove.

Dual C&D winner, latterly on good ground last April; her infrequent going days are difficult to foretell, though, and she was soundly beaten here (2m2f) ten days ago; 1lb out of the weights.

Course regular who has won twice (about 2m3f, good) and been placed on another four occasions from 15 visits; last won just over a year ago but looked to have something to offer when unseating four out in April and it was too far out to tell how she'd have fared when falling, again here, last time; 2lb wrong but she's not dismissed.

Pulled up on her final two outings in 2025 but looked in much better form back from a break here 16 days ago, moving well close to the pace when unseating four out; has won the last two runnings of this race off similar marks and could be set for another bold bid.

Sole win came over hurdles (2m1f, soft) in 2019; creditable efforts to be placed on his last two starts (latest over 2m2f); drops 2lb and again has each-way claims.

1-20 over fences (2m1f, good); regularly placed at this level but despite that being the case at Southwell (2m, good to soft) latest, he was well beaten from this mark; would probably also prefer a sound surface.

Verdict

A race to treat with caution and in which the solid option looks to be FAKIR, who is down again in grade and running to a level that suggests he might have been found another winning opportunity. Hector Jaguen and chasing newcomer Duhallow Tommy were both beaten favourites last time and the latter is the potential improver here. Clondaw Robin can join battle with that pair for minor honours.[Jonathan Doidge]
