Form & Verdict
Course winner is 4-11 under Rules and 2-6 over fences; beat Spillane's Tower in a heavy ground Grade 3 novice chase at Navan (2m) in March and followed that with a fine effort behind that rival in a Grade 1 at Fairyhouse over 2m4f, again on heavy; trip and ground were against him on latest and he could get back on track returned to 2m on heavy ground.

Versatile ground-wise; won this last year and has since added a fourth chase win in a Grade 3 at Naas; ran second to Energumene in a Grade 2 in April before his no-show in a Grade 1 last time; has clear claims back at this level, even having to concede weight all round.

One of four for Willie Mullins; gained a fourth chase win in a Naas Grade 3 in February; creditable effort when a 6l runner up behind Energumene in a Fairyhouse Grade 2 on latest; 3lb worse off with that rival here and looks set to play a supporting role again.

Four-time chase winner, including two Grade 3s; pulled up in a Grade 3 here on penultimate start but bounced back straight away with a Grade 3 win at Naas (2m, heavy); came up short in this last year when a 7.25l third and needs to find more to feature at the finish.

One of two for yard; rated 100 and looks to be miles out of his depth in this company; yard has stronger claims with Senecia.

Form & Verdict
Five-time course winner at 2m to 3m including the Leinster National in 2023; veteran has been mixing hurdles and chasing this season without much success; ran okay in this last year but is more effective over longer trips; others make more appeal.

Form & Verdict
12yo veteran is 3-22 over fences; his last win came in this contest in 2023 and he had Espanito Bello behind when second in 2024; hasn't really looked like adding to his tally in recent starts but the return to heavy ground is a plus and he might get an easy lead; place claims.

Form & Verdict
Inconsistent but capable of very smart form on his day, such as his 1.25l third behind Found A Fifty and subsequent dual Grade 1 winner Solness at Navan in November; didn't back that up on latest and he would prefer better ground than this.

Very smart chaser when at his best but he was well beaten in this 12 months ago and last season's placed efforts were remote ones behind class acts; current wellbeing is a bit of an issue.

Decent sort has two wins apiece over hurdles and fences, including a Grade 2 at Navan last season, his best performance; however, he is rated a long way below all of these rivals and is an unlikely winner.

Verdict

This looks like an excellent opportunity for BLOOD DESTINY. He will be suited by the return to 2m and the heavy ground and he has rock solid novice form in the book. The trip looks too sharp for last year’s third Espanito Bello so the 2023 winner and 2024 runner up Rebel Gold is taken to chase the selection home. [Dave Stephens]
