Form & Verdict
The only runner who brings Group form, having finished fourth in the Royal Lodge and the Ballysax since winning a maiden at the Galway Festival; latest effort received a second boost when the runner-up (from same yard) landed the Chester Vase on Wednesday; duly top on ratings.

Ex Ballydoyle-trained; won Lingfield Derby Trial last year but well held in both Irish Derby and Irish St Leger; bought for 78,000gns and soundly beaten on yard debut in Grade 2 Leopardstown hurdle at Christmas; tried in a tongue-tie here and plenty on his plate in what looks a hot Listed race.

3yo represents stable that has won this nine times, including last year; built on promise of reappearance effort behind Delacroix when winning the Derby Trial at Lingfield (11.5f, gd-fm); off since below par effort in the Irish Derby; gets weight from his older rivals but needs to prove stamina for this trip (mixed messages in pedigree); obvious chance if he stays.

Kept on for fourth behind Delacroix (2 1/2l off runner-up Lambourn) in the 1m2f Group 3 Ballysax at Leopardstown on reappearance; suited by the step up in trip when winning the Lingfield Derby Trial (Listed) by a short head from stablemate Stay True; missed engagement in the King Edward VII Stakes; looks second-best of a Ballydoyle quintet.

Galileo colt who cost 400,000gns as a foal; made a successful debut in Leopardstown maiden (1m2f, good) one month ago, leaving the impression this longer distance will suit; promising sort who is one of two strong contenders for Aidan O'Brien.

Won a 1m2f Leopardstown maiden and short-headed in 11.6f Lingfield Derby Trial before a three-month absence; returned with further improved efforts when close up in the Great Voltigeur at York (1m4f, good to firm) and the St Leger at Doncaster (14.5f, soft) and he threatened to win in both those races; he therefore remains a very classy prospect but he's not been shaping as if this extra distance is what he needs.

Three of Aidan O'Brien's last four St Leger winners were by Galileo and this colt is from the great sire's final crop; unraced on softer than good; won a 1m2f Leopardstown maiden and short-headed in 11.6f Lingfield Derby Trial; off for more than three months before he upstaged stablemate Lambourn in the 1m4f Great Voltigeur at York, taking over briefly more than 1f out, and although he finished fourth he was pipped for second only on the line by Carmers; there's more for him to prove regarding stamina today compared to all of his rivals, but O'Brien made clear that the York race was needed; after just three races, he still looks an exciting prospect.

400,000gns purchase as a foal, from the last crop of Galileo; knuckled down to win a Leopardstown maiden (1m2f, good) in April in clearcut style; ran odds-on stablemate to a short head in Listed Derby Trial at Lingfield (11.6f, good to firm) in May, which augured well (despite subsequent performances of the winner) but he's been off since; faced with three more stablemates, including dual Derby winner, it will be fascinating to see his market strength.

Attractively bred colt, by Ghaiyyath out of a Sea The Stars mare; has shown solid promise, having been placed at Newmarket in sole 2yo start then successful at Southwell (1m4f, AW) on reappearance; goes up in grade looking open to further progress; possibilities.

100-1 for the Derby at Epsom but showed improvement in making late headway from the back to finish eighth of 18 runners; similar form later last summer in Group 3s at Newmarket and Newbury; gelded in March and some improvement is needed but he is lightly raced and may be capable of it.

100-1 for the Derby at Epsom (1m4f, good) but showed improvement in making late headway from the back to finish eighth of 18 runners; again stuck to his task well when creditable second of five to a very classy winner in Group 3 at Newmarket (1m5f, good to firm) and this lightly raced 3yo could still prove capable of better; considered.

Finished third in the Lingfield trial, then was an outsider in the Derby but appeared to show further improvement in making late headway from the back to finish eighth of 18 runners; possibilities back down in class with this longer distance worth exploring.

Justified favouritism at Wolverhampton (1m4f, AW) on seasonal debut but was unable to defy a penalty in the Southwell race won by Nightime Dancer; fitting of headgear needs to prompt improvement.

Off since early June when tailed off in the Italian Derby; progressive profile prior to that, including a fourth in the Lingfield Derby Trial; these terms aren't favourable but he's a 3yo who could yet have more to offer.

Sandown maiden winner at two; perhaps didn't entirely handle Epsom in the Blue Riband Trial (1m2f, good) on reappearance but still ran well on bare figures and shaped as if this extra yardage will suit; remains of interest.

Narrow win at Goodwood (1m4f, good to firm) for Ralph Beckett last summer; not disgraced on 1m4f course reappearance for new yard but went backwards from that at the York Dante meeting since; the first-time cheekpieces he wore there are quickly discarded; also down in trip.

Two good runs last August included a narrow win at Goodwood (1m4f, good to firm) but he was soundly beaten on starts either side of those; sold out of Ralph Beckett's stable for 30,000gns in October and not disgraced on reappearance at Ripon 18 days ago; tongue tied last four starts and now also tries cheekpieces; others are a bit more persuasive.

Second career success when shading a tight finish at Goodwood (1m4f, good to firm) last August; ended the year with a poor run at Newcastle (1m4f) in September; subsequently sold out of Ralph Beckett's stable for 30,000gns; new yard runs three and the betting is perhaps the best guide to expectations.

Form & Verdict
Nicely bred colt, by Study Of Man out of a well-related Galileo mare; likely found 7f too sharp in sole run for Peter Chapple-Hyam; well suited by the step up to 1m4f in Polytrack maiden here since, justifying favouritism with something left up his sleeve; should build on that win and looks an interesting prospect.

Highly tried after winning Lingfield maiden (AW) in April last year and he bounced back from a swing at the Derby when going close at Thirsk (also 1m4f, good) in July; that form would make him a handicap snip but it's been a real struggle since and blinkers are now reached for; only considered if the market warms to him.
