Fell on only appearance last season and didn't fire on either hurdling start this autumn (albeit not beaten that far on latter occasion); very well handicapped on old form but has quite a bit to prove on first chasing start since spring 2023.

Useful juvenile hurdler during 2021-22 season but chasing did not go to plan last term and there has been no revival since he reverted to hurdling; handles soft ground; unraced on heavy.

Verdict

Dan Skelton’s LAC DE CONSTANCE was unbeaten over hurdles last season and looked a natural over fences when winning at Kempton in the autumn. He suffered a mishap last time but will have live claims at the forthcoming Cheltenham Festival if all goes to plan here. It’s hard to know what to expect from Bear Ghylls, who disappointed last time, but he still has considerable potential and can’t be opposed with confidence.[Chris Wilson]
