Form & Verdict
Won the Imperial Cup over C&D in March 2021; it's been all about the two big spring festivals since, winning the 2m5f Coral Cup at Cheltenham last term, and winter's efforts suggest he's best watched for the time being.

Form & Verdict
Completed a four-timer as juvenile hurdler last term, including a C&D win on heavy ground; he was back over C&D on heavy four weeks ago and registered a smooth win, taking his handicap record to 3-3; up 10lb but he has a lot going for him and there are not many rivals to worry about today.

Form & Verdict
6-19 in France, with five of those wins over hurdles and one over fences (all on testing ground); well held last May/June when last seen but they were in Grade 1 and Grade 2 events, not discredited on form, and he has had wind surgery since; has been racing over further and his usual hood is discarded, but he needs a close look on debut for Paul Nicholls.

Front-runner who was 11l third of 15 at Aintree (2m, good to soft) nine days ago when bidding to win that race for the third consecutive year (wins on soft/good); his last five wins have come in the month of April and there can be optimism that he will make another bold bid; third in this in 2024.

His exploits earlier in the season aren't of much concern given his last five wins have come in the month of April, including the last two runnings of this race (soft/good to soft; has also won on good); this prominent racer did it comfortably 12 months ago and is just 3lb higher today; could once more take all the beating.

3-13 over hurdles and largely reliable, with no ground worries; won what was effectively a match on reappearance at Fontwell (2m1f, heavy) in November and ran creditably at Warwick on sole start since; relatively exposed but firmly in calculations.

Form & Verdict
Has form figures of 221 in completed outings over hurdles, all in 2021 and winning a maiden at Huntingdon (2m, good; acts on heavy) that May; sole start since when below form on chase/handicap debut at Taunton one year ago, so his lack of recent achievement puts others higher up the list.

Form & Verdict
Twice made all in good style over C&D on heavy but those races were in 2018 and 2019; exploited his reduced mark at Leicester in November 2022 but not so competitive in his three runs last year (one creditable) and he was beaten 18l when fourth of ten over C&D last time; back to his last winning mark but now a 13yo and others are preferred.

Tends to race freely and has been at his most productive of late when front-running; pipped at Musselburgh (1m7f, soft) in November and comfortably on top in six-runner race at Haydock (1m7f, heavy) two weeks ago; 5lb higher than last time but has never been better and needs respect.

Front-runner who won on chase debut at Hexham (1m7f, good) in October and has run well in second the next twice (2m/1m7f, good to soft/good); he's fine at this trip (and on a variety of ground) and was effective here over hurdles; can make another bold bid.

Verdict

The 10lb rise demands more from SPIRIT D’AUNOU but he’s progressed almost every time so far and he’s still a youngster, with nothing to prove over C&D in the mud and more improvement in him judged on the smooth way in which he scored here four weeks ago. The big warning sign would come if there is confidence in the betting behind the ex-French Sans Bruit who has his first run for Paul Nicholls. Otherwise the chief danger is The Churchill Lad.[Richard Austen]
