Minor form in Ireland but he ran as if he would come on for the outing on debut for this yard in October and he appreciated the return to good ground when a convincing winner in the end under Jamie Gambin at Newcastle (2m1f) last month; back up 3lb; can do better yet.

Has thrived since returning from a break in December, winning two of his three runs over hurdles before adding a third win of the season reverting to fences at Market Rasen (2m3f, soft) last month, each time under Benjamin Macey; he's up 4lb for last time but is very much a leading contender in current form.

Little to latch on to in first three runs in Britain but she showed more when third of eight finishers behind a big improver at Musselburgh (1m7f, soft; first-time visor, retained) 14 days ago and her Irish form offers hope she can go on from that; one of the more likely ones.

Verdict

Several can have cases made but Jamie Gambin was able to get a good tune out of FERRYBRIDGE at Newcastle and there should be more to come at this level providing the ground doesn’t prove too testing. Among the more interesting dangers are Early Morning Dew, back hurdling after an AW win last April, though he does have fitness to prove, and German Flat winner Good Lord in his first handicap hurdle. Milajess, My Virtue and Rhodia can also figure.[Emily Weber]
