Form & Verdict
Well beaten on his three hurdle starts but last month's 26l third at Chepstow (2m7f, heavy) wasn't devoid of promise and this point winner (3m, soft to heavy) has realistic claims now handicapping off a modest mark.

Ended last season with two wins over hurdles and he outstayed his rivals to snatch another at Ffos Las (3m, heavy; under Toby McCain-Mitchell) five weeks ago in his fifth handicap chase; back up 3lb but, unraced beyond 3m, looks a strong candidate for long-distance races and therefore may be able to raise his game further.

Two wins and a second to show from three runs over hurdles during the past 12 months but hasn't looked a natural back over fences this season, jumping poorly last time (3m, good to soft); potentially well treated in this discipline but reservations at the minute.

Winning Irish pointer in 2022; missed 2023 and he wasn't in much form between February and May last year, nor when switched to fences in the autumn, but he put up a fighting display when runner-up to a well-treated one at Chepstow (2m7f, soft) recently; back up 3lb but good claims.

Won at Exeter (2m7f, good to soft) last November and, while he was beaten 21l when second of six at Wincanton (3m, heavy) last month, that wasn't a bad run and he could be involved this afternoon.

Record of 1-10 over hurdles and has the same strike-rate over fences; his last success was in a chase handicap at Warwick (3m, good) last April but he's not matched that form since and was tailed off at Exeter last time; comes with risks attached after a break and his last hurdle run was 12 months ago.

Form & Verdict
Tail-flashing mare who is 0-7 and goes without the hood she's worn the last twice; however, she ran pretty encouraging races at Southwell (2m4f, soft) last month in her first two handicaps and shaped as though this step up in trip may be a good move; could have a part to play.

Won at Fontwell (3m2f, heavy) last spring and was also narrowly successful at Lingfield (2m7f, soft) in November; should appreciate the return to this sort of trip and a new headgear combination is given a go but he could do with rain.

Form & Verdict
He runs off a mark 4lb lower than when runner-up in a 3m handicap at Ludlow last November and he's not without a chance, but he's inconsistent and is now 0-19 following a below-par run at Hereford last month.

Only win came on good ground off 2lb higher here last May (3m1f); has run well since then but form has taken a turn for the worse this year and should have run better only 19 days ago at Hereford when back on good ground.

Only win came on good ground off this mark at Warwick last May (3m1f); was knocking on the door in the autumn (on good and good to soft) and a softer surface has perhaps found him out the last twice; better expected.

Verdict

There is a lot to like about the claims of TWP STORI (nap), who has improved since being upped to staying trips and had plenty in hand at Fontwell last time. Young At Heart has shown some staying potential and may be the the main danger now upped in distance, while R Bernard could build on last month’s stable debut third at Southwell.[Ben Hutton]
