Not proven on firmer than good (one attempt); second of nine at Salisbury (1m6f, good) in May was his closest finish since 2yo, making most and rallying well; disappointing latest start but that Salisbury run was his only appearance this season over this trip (the rest were 2m); not totally ruled out in his search for first win since debut.

Won Newmarket maiden on his debut in 2024 but hasn't kicked on from good juvenile form; fair efforts when fifth in quite valuable AW handicaps in February and March but he proved a disappointing favourite on return to turf when beaten 14l at Beverley (also 2m, good to soft) last month; others hold greater appeal.

Plenty went wrong for him in the Queen's Vase here one year ago (still a close fifth) but unbeaten with cheekpieces added for his five starts since; that includes the St Leger at Doncaster (by a neck from Rahiebb) in September and two 1m6f events this spring (familiar route to this race for his stable) but also, and perhaps most tellingly, the 2m Goodwood Cup last July in which he asserted late on from last year's Gold Cup second; high class and there's plenty in those 1m6f/2m performances which suggests he will be a thorough stayer.
