Form & Verdict
Yet to hit top gear after four runs this season but drops in grade after contesting two valuable races last month, and didn't enjoy the run of the race at Glorious Goodwood last time; will be a major player at this level if boosted by first-time cheekpieces; untested on ground slower than good.

Royal Ascot handicap winner last year (5f, good to firm) and later went close in this race when 3lb higher; yet to get competitive this term but could have needed the comeback run, there were blindfold issues next time and she ran well for a long way at Ascot 17 days ago before eased considerably late on; drawn next to the stands' rail and a revival is not out of the question with form figures of 132 under the returning Oisin Murphy; tongue tied last two races.

Saw off 23 rivals when winning last season's Palace of Holyroodhouse Stakes at the Royal meeting (C&D; good to firm); better form when pipped at Goodwood last July; this season yet to take off but she may have needed her return and then there were blindfold issues at Redcar three weeks ago; Colin Keane booked and a revival isn't out of the question but her low draw may be an issue.

Won this race off 1lb higher a year ago (good to firm; wore cheekpieces) and looked back in prime form at Newmarket (5f, good to firm; refitted visor) last month; below that level at Pontefract recently but is back on a straight track today and has possibilities if there's not too much rain.

With this visor back on he won at Newmarket (5f, good to firm) last month, landing that handicap for the third year in succession; not beaten far when fifth of 13 at Ascot (5f, good to firm) since but he's never won off a mark this high and there's a suspicion he'll again be vulnerable.

His two Ascot defeats came at the Royal meeting when a big outsider; arrives on the back of an easy win at Newmarket (5f, good to firm; visor reinstated) but a 6lb rise for that could leave him vulnerable.

Form & Verdict
Won from the front at Thirsk (5f, good) in May, her second run for Robert Cowell, and was not disgraced when midfield at Royal Ascot on next outing; Glorious Goodwood last month was a shade disappointing but she's back in calmer waters here and not yet fully exposed.

Well beaten in the last two editions of the Stewards' Cup here but won from off the pace over C&D in May, leading on the line under a Jamie Spencer masterclass; barely sighted in his two subsequent runs (soft/AW; ridden more prominently) but, back in this scenario with a strong pace guaranteed, he could easily be a factor if reverting to patient tactics.

Won three times over 5f last season and the form of her first two runs this year (one over C&D) is strong; her levels have dropped since and she was behind Hypnotised when fourth at Newbury (5f, good to firm) a fortnight ago but she'll be a threat to all off this mark if back on song.

Constant progress last year saw her win four nurseries (5f, turf/AW) and she completed her season with a creditable fourth of 19 in a Listed event at the other Newmarket track (6f, good) in October; may have needed her reappearance run over C&D (good to firm) last month but that was a heavy defeat and she needs to find more progress to defy this mark.

Verdict

Kinswoman will be hard to beat if back in prime form and similar comments apply to class-dropper ADRESTIA, who is narrowly preferred. Not much has gone to plan for the topweight this season but she’s on a good mark now and will hopefully be perked up by the addition of cheekpieces. Fantasy Master ran well in defeat at Newmarket last week and is next on the list, ahead of Hypnotised.[Chris Wilson]
