Form & Verdict
Hard to knock this season and a 5lb rise for his Wetherby win (2m3f, soft) shouldn't be too damaging as he overcame a late mistake after which Ben Sutton lost both irons; has form beyond this trip; solid.

Did well for Dan Skelton and posted best effort for new stable when second behind easy winner at Sandown (2m7f, heavy) last time; however, likely needs a new level of form to go one better.

Successful six times under regular rider Ben Sutton, including on heavy going at Uttoxeter in 2024 and over 3m at Newbury last February; the latter was his final start for Dan Skelton and he's been well beaten this term on both runs for new yard; needs a career best to win this.

Form & Verdict
Very smart novice chaser two seasons ago and he made a likeable return in the Haldon Gold Cup; however, it's been modest fare in the meantime and he's now on a recovery mission back over hurdles; tongue-tie worn for last seven runs is left off, as are the cheekpieces he tried last time.

Very useful chaser in his prime but last month's hurdling win at Fontwell (2m5f, good) came off a hugely reduced handicap mark and it's not easy to predict whether his revival will gather momentum.

Form & Verdict
Hooded from the outset; won his first two over hurdles and then chased home the Grade 1 Challow winner in Chepstow's Persian War; handicap debut at Cheltenham was disappointing but ran okay at Aintree to finish third in a steadily run race (2m4f, soft); doesn't look strikingly well treated but entitled to have some say.

Won this race (good ground) last year in first-time cheekpieces off a 10lb lower mark; first and second in two small fields this season, alongside two heavy defeats in top handicaps; tried blinkers when fading right out of it at the Cheltenham Festival last time and now reverts to cheekpieces; also back on firmer ground but a new career best is needed.

Won the bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown (extended 3m4f, good) last April in first-time cheekpieces and returned to form when second at Windsor (2m6f, soft) in January; his jumping can sometimes lack fluency but, with first-time blinkers replacing the cheekpieces, he has an each-way chance if minimising the mistakes; fourth of 18 in the NH Chase here (3m6f, good to soft) last March.

Form & Verdict
It was only four runs back that he defied this mark at Kempton (2m5f, good; fine on soft) and two of his following three efforts weren't too shoddy; has form when fresh (admittedly not on the back of this long an absence) and wouldn't put a line through him.

Form & Verdict
Has some good form in notable handicaps off higher marks; not at his best this season as his fourth was remote, was then beaten in a match and tailed off in the Lanzatote at Kempton in which he was sixth and third in previous renewals; has to get back on track, but could get a soft lead here and that would help matters.

Ex-French 5yo who won his maiden on British debut; second on heavy-ground handicap debut at Sandown (2m; 3lb lower) before finishing a remote fourth at Aintree (2m4f) when behind Resplendent Grey; needs to prove that running all wrong and he suffered an early fall at Lingfield three weeks ago.

Below best on his four outings in 2025 and unseated at the first fence at Taunton recently; also needs to prove his stamina; however, this 7yo has plenty of time to get his career back on track and is on a handy mark on his 2024 exploits; perhaps the new cheekpieces will give him a boost.

Has made the frame in all his handicaps and the recent rain won't harm his chances as conditions were heavy when a 6l runner-up at Wincanton last time (2m5f); also stays further than this which is probably a good thing after all the recent rain; first-time cheekpieces; player.

Verdict

Santos Blue (second choice) is nicely progressive and he did well win with such authority at Wetherby. It wouldn’t be a surprise should Dorking Boy go well after his absence, and indeed Up For Parol despite this season’s disappointments. However, ASTRONOMIC VIEW is a true mudlover who has yet to run a bad race in handicaps and his assured stamina could be his trump card after all the rain.[Alistair Jones]
