Form & Verdict
Very smart performer at his best in France, such as when a close third of 19 in Group 1 Prix du Jockey Club at Chantilly last June (about 1m2f, soft); never reached those heights again, including in conditions races this year, but fascinating to see if the situation can be salvaged by new trainer William Haggas.

He's not the force of old (third in the French Derby in 2021) but, having dropped down the weights, he went close at Haydock (1m, heavy) a fortnight ago; testing ground may suit best but that's not guaranteed; a contender if backing up that latest performance.

Has continued on the upgrade this year, adding to four earlier wins with one at Ayr in September (1m2f, good; has won on heavy); didn't go down without a fight when seventh at York last month but she could be a shade vulnerable now.

Handles good ground but has won both starts on soft and made all in good style in this last year; has question marks about his form this year but a 5lb higher mark than 12 months ago, back on soft for the first time since, should not be beyond him.

Verdict

Considerable interest is added by the formerly very smart Millebosc trying to salvage his reputation on this first run for William Haggas. A market move either way should help assessments as he would be home and hosed on anything like his best form. Last year’s winner Dubai Souq is back on soft ground for the first time since but he was well below his best on good ground two starts ago and it’s not as if he can’t handle that surface if he’s on song. EETEE has come right into his own since upped to 1m2f and things didn’t go entirely his way at York recently, so he may well have some more to give.[Emily Weber]
