Form & Verdict
Split two subsequent winners when runner-up at Auteuil (2m2f, soft) in September in his second run in France; finished a 17l fourth of 11 in both runs in Britain since but the first was in a Grade 1 at Chepstow last December and the second was in the Grade 2 Adonis at Kempton in February; this unexposed 4yo is in much calmer waters now for his handicap debut and he should appreciate this step back up in trip; big player.

Staying-on fourth in last season's Grand National (good to soft) off 5lb lower as just a 7yo; a second crack at it has been his main target this term but he looked better than ever when winning from Firefox in a hot, three-runner race at Ascot (2m5f; second run after wind surgery) in December and had an excuse (scoped dirty) at the Cheltenham Festival last month; has to be in serious calculations.

Fourth in last season's Grand National (4m2f, good to soft) off 5lb lower; the big one at Aintree is again his main target but this 8yo looked better than ever when winning a hot, three-runner graduation chase at Ascot (2m5f, good to soft) in December and on that evidence he's entitled to considerable respect off his revised mark; won the Martin Pipe Hurdle at the 2023 Festival.

Noble Yeats three years ago showed a 7yo can still win the National; this one has spent most of his career at about 2m4f/2m5f and his three appearances over 2m7f-3m1f were defeats but they were among his best efforts (two were Grade 1 novice places here) and contained mouthwatering suggestions of stamina not yet called upon; it is today and there's almost no doubt he remains capable of better.

Form & Verdict
Off the mark at the fifth attempt over hurdles when making all in a maiden at Bangor (2m7f, good) in April; didn't jump well when pulled up over fences on his recent return but he still has potential in this sphere and was a creditable second at Wetherby (2m3f, soft) in his only previous handicap; dangerous back over hurdles.

Took a big step back in the right direction at Warwick (2m5f, good) last month when having second run since wind surgery and wearing first-time blinkers (retained); clear possibilities if building on that effort; won at Bangor last spring.

Form & Verdict
Gave 1-14 shot a fright when close second at Kelso (2m2f, good to soft) in April and backed up that performance with very respectable fourth in another novice at Perth (2m, good) in September; looks on a fair mark now switched to a handicap and he has possibilities back up in trip.

Placed over hurdles and fences when trained in France but he's struggled in Britain and has finished tailed off in his five completed starts in handicaps; has plenty to prove back in this sphere and he's out of the weights.

Verdict

Dedanser didn’t take to fences on his recent return but he put in a dominant display in his last hurdle run and he still has potential in this sphere. Jet Legs has run creditably in his last two starts and looks on a fair opening mark but the vote goes to another handicap newcomer in IROKO. This ex-French 4yo wasn’t disgraced in Grade 1 and Grade 2 events in his first two runs in Britain and is an interesting contender back in much calmer waters on his return to action.[David Moon]
