Form & Verdict
Consistent front-runner who recorded his fourth chase win when justifying support over 2m2f here (soft) on Boxing Day; up 5lb but he knuckled down well to forge clear 6l last time and is a major player again.

Regressive form this season; drops back to an easier level but doesn't have the ideal scenario; this front-runner has gained all chase wins in much smaller fields.

Form & Verdict
Ex-French 6yo; has mixed record for his current yard and was pulled up at this track (2m5f, good) last month but he comfortably beat Rose Sea Has here (2m2f, soft) in November; comes with some risks attached but he's a big player if he can recapture that penultimate form.

Form & Verdict
Won five of his first six chase starts (2m-2m3f, soft/heavy) but he's lost his way since last success in February 2021 and has form figures of P7P this season; drops back in grade off a tumbling mark but he needs to turns things around with cheekpieces added.

Posted handicap chase five-timer in 2020-21 but has shown very little since and a dramatic turnaround is needed.

Got up to a rating of 126 after winning four handicap chases on the bounce at up to 2m3f (all on soft or heavy) for Gary Moore two seasons ago; has been rather disappointing since but reverts to hurdles on a very good mark.

Form & Verdict
Point/bumper/hurdle winner who is effective on heavy ground; wasn't far away when falling two out on his chase/seasonal debut at Plumpton (2m3f, good) but he was a well-held fifth of seven when favourite at Ludlow (2m4f, good to soft) last time; still very early days in this sphere but he needs to find improvement; equipment is reapplied including a first-time hood.

Trained by David Bridgwater to win the 2024 Sussex National at Plumpton and nearly win it last term, both on soft; has made a solid start for James Owen this term, notably with a strong-finishing win here (3m6f, good to soft) but he was also sixth in the Welsh National last time; each-way player.

Form & Verdict
Made it 3-7 over fences when making all over C&D (good to soft) on his return in November but he was disappointing in his follow-up bid at Plumpton (2m3f, soft; 5-4 favourite) two weeks ago; bit to prove again after that and he needs to resume his progress.

Verdict

The most solid option is the consistent front-runner ROSE SEA HAS, who recorded his fourth chase win when forging clear over 2m2f here on Boxing Day and a 5lb rise for that success looks fair. Family Business was pulled up at this track last time but he beat the selection here on his penultimate run and is a big danger if he can recapture that form. Dom Of Mary is unexposed over fences but he didn’t really fire when favourite at Ludlow ten days ago and needs to find improvement.[David Moon]
