Form & Verdict
Well treated on peak 2m-2m5f hurdle form of a year ago; reduced mark owed to two chasing non-completions last autumn but this half-brother to Wayward Prince may yet come good as a chaser if cheekpieces inspire.

Form & Verdict
Losing run stands at 18 but has placed three times of late, twice at today's sort of trip; question of whether a 10lb swing (excluding claims) with Arcade Attraction for a 26l defeat at Fontwell last month is enough.

Won off a career-low chase mark at Fontwell (3m2f, good; refitted cheekpieces) in November and slower ground wouldn't have been ideal the last twice; none too reliable these days at the best of times.

Very inconsistent this season and his win at Fontwell (good ground; 5lb higher today) on penultimate start was over 3m2f; his soft-ground form was two years ago and he pulled up on his only appearance on heavy.

Form & Verdict
Positive tactics in first-time cheekpieces inspired Fontwell win latest (2m4f, good to soft; Pawpaw 26l behind); could crab the form with many fences omitted but did beat two subsequent winners (one next time out), and although back up 7lb is still on a historically workable mark.

Stable debut when making most over C&D last month to beat Atlantic Storm (pair well clear): up 7lb but handles softer ground and Brian Hughes again rides; strong claims if able to repeat the effort.

Made all in first-time cheekpieces at Fontwell (2m3f, good to soft) for Evan Williams in February but was quickly back in the doldrums next time; sold for £6,5000 in May; no cheekpieces for today's stable debut; versatile regarding ground but not an easy horse to predict.

Form & Verdict
Nearest miss came the first time the now returning cheekpieces went on; half-brother and dam are both chase winners but his own chasing debut lasted three fences; two failures to finish over hurdles since.

Now rated 14lb below the lowest mark he's ever defied and all wins have come under the returning Nathan Moscrop; fair fourth upped to almost 2m6f at Wetherby four days ago (good) but likely a bit more needed again.

He's dropped to a mark 15lb lower than when winning at Catterick (2m3f, good) last January and there have been some fair efforts this season; not ruled out but it's been a patchy campaign and others appeal more.

Form & Verdict
Point win for Phillippa Taylor came around another right-handed, undulating track in Edgcote (3m, good) but that was almost two years ago and just five starts since have included two struggles around here.

Verdict

Each runner has something to take on trust, in the case of Fontwell scorer Arcade Attraction (second choice) the belief that the cheekpieces will continue to help him defy historically attractive marks. Yet to complete during a somewhat briefer chasing career to date, but similarly cut some slack by the assessor, BLACKCAUSEWAY is selected as an alternative, assuming an affirmative reaction to first-time cheekpieces is forthcoming.
