Form & Verdict
Has shown promise when making the frame at Perth (2m, good) and Kelso (2m, good to soft) on his first two starts, finishing 1l behind third-placed Malicash most recently; can give another good account and there's every chance he'll be in the mix.

Won in first-time visor (retained since) here (2m5f, soft) in January; faded when soundly beaten third of 11 at Wetherby (3m, soft) last time and he'll need to see out the trip better today, but he's not ruled out.

Did little in his first three handicaps (about 3m; one over fences) before a vastly better display to win seven-runner race at Ayr (2m5f, soft) 17 days ago; this visor replaced cheekpieces on that occasion and maybe that was key, but he has more to prove now back up in trip off 5lb higher.

Kept on for modest third on Irish point debut in May (yielding to soft); it's tricky to gauge what that form is worth but he makes his rules debut in a run-of-the-mill contest; market may guide.

Faded at Ayr in January on first crack at 3m and fell three out when having another go at it on latest outing; however, he had looked a good prospect for this sort of trip when staying on for second over an extended 2m6f at Kelso (soft) three starts ago and could still tap back into that promise.

Won at Kelso (2m5f, good to soft) in November and stamina again looked a strong suit when he was second there (extended 2m6f, soft) last month; today's step up in trip could prompt further improvement from this lightly raced 6yo and he's firmly in calculations.

Attracted market support when third of 13 at 8-1 on debut at Kelso (2m, good to soft) three weeks ago, finishing 1l ahead of the once-raced Al Kalila; open to improvement and could play a leading role.

Went close on debut in Irish maiden point (3m, soft to heavy) in March and in third was Itseemslikeit, who won a maiden hurdle at Ffos Las recently; changed hands for £100,000 in April and has had wind surgery since; in good hands and he's respected on his bumper debut.

Didn't really progress in his three bumpers and was tailed off at 40-1 on hurdling debut at Hexham (2m, good) last month; this stiffer stamina test could suit on pedigree but he needs to leave that latest form well behind.

Verdict

Top of the list is MALICASH, who showed plenty of promise with his debut third at Kelso last month and is a big player if he can build on that. Walk On Quest was bought for £100,000 after his second in an Irish point in March and he’s feared most on his rules debut. Al Kalila was just behind the selection at Kelso and should be in the mix again, while there are several newcomers who need a close look including Yakaleo.[David Moon]
