Does not have an exciting pedigree but outran 33-1 odds when coming from the rear to go close on debut at Ludlow (soft) in December; probably sets a fair form standard; strong contender.

Form & Verdict
Joined Chris Gordon for £110,000 after finishing second in an Irish point; 12-1 for his bumper debut at Ascot (soft) where he stayed on to finish third off modest fractions; that form has yet to be tested but the front two are probably useful.

Soundly beaten here in the Martin Pipe 12 months ago but second of 17 to today's Grade 1 Stayers' hopeful Ma Shantou back here (3m, good) in October; improved to win valuable race in another big field at Haydock (3m, good to soft) in November and should be raring to go today, with major chance.

Dual winner at Fontwell (2m1f/2m3f) as a novice hurdler last season; unable to land any sort of blow when making handicap debut at the Festival here (2m4f) in March and raced rather lazily when seventh (not beaten that far) at Sandown in April but this step up to 3m may unlock improvement; not ruled out.

Form & Verdict
Bought for 100,000euros as a 3yo; the stable second string when a 15l fourth of six in a heavy-ground bumper at Chepstow last month; kinder conditions here might be more favourable and he should be all the wiser.

Verdict

After being held up off steady fractions, ELECTRIC MASON wouldn’t have been seen to best effect at Ascot and yet still finished third behind two nice prospects. Western Harmony is of obvious interest and it’s worth referring to the opening race on the card in which the horse he beat in his point is due to make his rules debut. Mount Gay Run may have been unsuited by the heavy ground at Chepstow.[Alistair Jones]
