Form & Verdict
On a recovery mission after thoroughly underwhelming runs over hurdles and on the Flat during early summer; however, if back to the form he showed when making all in a Sedgefield handicap off 5lb lower in February (2m4f, good) he wouldn't be far away.

Form & Verdict
Back-to-back wins in maiden and novice company at Fontwell in the spring (heavy/good); since beaten in the region of 20l in two Sandown handicaps (2m/2m4f) but this represents a drop in class and he's still only a 4yo with better days ahead of him more than likely.

He was found a very weak maiden in which to get off the mark at Hereford (2m3f, good) and the runner-up was tailed off back there last week; looks progressive though and open to improvement now handicapping.

Yet to add to his maiden hurdle win in 2023 but fairly lightly raced in the meantime and ran quite well when third at Newton Abbot (3m2f, good) last month; still unexposed over this sort of trip; raced mainly on good ground; could have a say.

Close third of three in a Dunsmore open (good to soft) on her most recent pointing start, but her quirkier side was also evident this year having run out under two different riders; risks attached therefore, and she offered nothing on a sole previous chasing start (3m, 0-120) in autumn 2024.

Overall record of 2-39 and he's 0-16 as a hurdler; however, looked booked to put that right until falling at the final flight at Newton Abbot in May (2m2f, good); returns for a new yard off 4lb higher; hard to rule out.

Back with his former trainer for this first start on the Flat since October 2021; no win since the summer of 2017 so not hard to oppose.

Verdict

This looks tricky. Stanley Pincombe has more on his plate than here two weeks ago but he’s a likeable type and this race is named after his trainer. Baltray is a lightly raced last-time-out winner open to improvement and Walk Of No Shame promises to be well served by returning to this trip, but the 4yo KANSAS DU BERLAIS gets the nod. This dual Fontwell winner takes a welcome drop in grade from two Sandown handicaps and he shaped as though his latest race would bring him on.[Alistair Jones]
