Likes to push the pace and seems versatile ground-wise; his win over slightly shorter here (good) was the middle leg of a summer hat-trick last year and it was a fine effort when close third in Listed Flying Scotsman at Doncaster in September; has a good stall to go forward but his no-show on return to turf (66-1; drawn wide) a fortnight ago needs glossing over. |

2-2 in nurseries last July (7f, good/heavy) and close Listed fifth at Lingfield (7f, AW) this February; has top weight in this hot handicap but 7lb claimer is recruited and the step up to nearly 1m may help. |

This step up in trip is not sure to suit but he arrived late on the scene to win handicaps at Wolverhampton (8.6f, AW) and Sandown (1m, good) on his first two outings this year and came from last in the Britannia at Royal Ascot (1m, good to firm) three weeks ago, finishing 12th of 30 overall but second of those who had raced far side; probably remains in form. |

Won on good to firm here on debut but bypassed the Silver Bowl at Carlisle last month on account of those conditions; he'd probably run well if okay on this surface, having gone 2-2 since being gelded and last time at Sandown (1m, good) looking good value for his narrow defeat of Organise. |

Progressive once upped to 1m as 2yo, winning twice (good to firm/soft) before his Listed fourth in France (soft); may have needed last month's comeback run in the race won by Laureate Crown at Sandown (1m, good to firm; 14-1 from 20-1) but he's not obviously well treated. |

Won Ripon novice (1m, good to firm) last August on third start then followed up in four-runner nursery over this C&D (soft); creditable Listed fourth in France (1m, soft) in September but returns to a handicap off a mark 13lb higher than for his course win; further improvement needed. |

Lightly raced sort who made a winning start for Marco Botti in 7f Wolverhampton handicap on Boxing Day; faded as if possibly needing his first outing since when sixth of ten at Sandown (7f, good) 14 days ago; entitled to come on for the run. |

Only defeat last year came in a Group 3 at York and, having left previous yard for 50,000gns, he beat a subsequent winner to justify favouritism in an AW handicap on Boxing Day (7f); won that nicely enough to believe a 7lb rise is manageable, and clearly open to further progress. |

Last season's novice win came on good to firm (7.5f); this year's defeats at Musselburgh (1m, good to soft; ran well) and Newmarket (good to firm; not so well from the front) mark him down as an unlikely winner of this. |

Won at Beverley (7.4f, good to firm) last July on second start then well beaten in Group 2 at Goodwood (7f, good) later that month; reappeared with close second of six in handicap at Musselburgh (1m, good to soft) four weeks ago but it's likely he needs a much bigger run in this hot contest. |

Won 1m nurseries last autumn on final two runs for Joseph O'Brien (yielding to soft/soft); he finished sixth last month on his two runs for Lemos De Souza (7f/1m, good/good to firm) and needs something extra on his first start for Australian trainer Henry Dwyer. |

Won nursery debut for Joseph O'Brien at Naas (1m, yielding to soft) last September and easily followed up at Bellewstown (1m, soft), both in a tongue-tie; having shot up the weights he reappeared with sixth of ten when 66-1 for stable debut at Ascot (7f, good) three weeks ago, which is his highest rating; could build on that (as he needs to) with tongue-tie reapplied this time. |

Sole win was at 1-4 in a novice race but competitive every time, in valuable handicaps over 1m and 1m2f on last two outings (good to firm); latest was at Royal Ascot (10-1) where he had the widest draw and mostly raced widest but kept on in fifth of 16 (Evanesco nearly 2l behind in seventh); that did not look the ideal run of the race and he's probably set for better still. |

Reappeared at 1-4 with a ready novice win; 2-1 favourite when good fourth of 14 for the rearranged Silver Bowl at Carlisle (also 1m on good to firm) three weeks ago on handicap debut, making inroads too late but that experience of a hot handicap at right-handed track could stand him in good stead and, in accordance with the dam's side, 1m2f now looks well worth exploring. |

Runner-up last October on both 2yo starts (7f, AW/good), on the second occasion in a novice at Newmarket that has worked out very well; reappeared with a ready win at 1-4 in Wetherby novice (1m, good to firm) and there's every chance that this unexposed colt will be better than today's opening mark. |

It's 23 years since Clive Cox won this with New Seeker and this gelding is one of two live hopes for the yard, along with Blue Courvoisier, whom he finished 1.5l behind in the rescheduled Silver Bowl at Carlisle (1m, good to firm); the clear concern is going up 6lb for a defeat and this race is even more competitive. |

Gelded after debut and has left sole that 2yo run (6f, soft) well behind him by winning novice events at Doncaster (7f, good to soft) and Kempton (7f, AW) this spring; did well to score with strong finish last time, having been carried left; promising and probably has an advantageous mark for this handicap debut, especially now upped in trip. |

Gelded prior to this campaign which he kicked off with clearcut maiden win on AW and he then finished good third of 14 in the Silver Bowl at Carlisle (also 1m, good to firm); drawn on the wrong side when finishing midfield in his group in the Britannia on the straight mile here last month; earlier Carlisle form puts him in the picture. |

0-5 as a 2yo but there was plenty of encouragement, including a 2l defeat here behind Laureate Crown; gelded prior to this campaign which he kicked off with a clearcut maiden win on the AW (1m) and he then held his own in the Silver Bowl at Carlisle won by Blue Courvoisier; he was only 100-30 for that and unlucky not to be closer than 2l; yet another to bear in mind. |

Made the running when beaten a neck on nursery debut at Doncaster (1m, good to soft) last September, which was the second leg of a four-timer for the winner; reappeared with an easy 10l win at 2-5 in a maiden at Southwell (1m, AW; made all) in March and looks well treated today, given that his mark is unaltered since that win. |

Had some good 2yo form, as when winning both starts at about 7f, and this campaign has a somewhat luckless look to it so far, albeit slow starts aren't helping; his one start over 1m, in a valuable Carlisle handicap in May, was inconclusive regarding stamina but he remains of interest. |

First start beyond 6f when winning Ffos Las maiden (7.3f, heavy) last September and followed up in last-gasp fashion in valuable EBF Final at York (7f, good) in October; never involved in two competitive handicaps this season but he met trouble on the first occasion and a slow start didn't help last time; will need to break better if he's to take advantage of his inside stall. |

Won Ffos Las maiden (7.3f, heavy) last September on seventh start, when going beyond 6f for first time, and he followed up in last-gasp fashion in valuable EBF Final at York (7f, good); denied a clear run when mid-division in handicap at Newbury (7f, good; 12-1) on reappearance and the step up to nearly 1m looks a very good move; one to note. |

Came up shy in his first two handicaps (1m, good) but he was a big market mover when repelling stablemate Langstone in the Silver Bowl at Carlisle (1m, good to firm); that was courtesy of a canny front-running ride by Saffie Osborne and he's gone up 9lb to boot; there's a suspicion that he might have left his Britannia chance in Cumbria. |

Verdict
Having done well to defy a penalty in a novice at Kempton last month, when he was carried right in the straight, the unexposed LANGSTONE (nap) is the selection on his handicap debut. Crest Of Fire could also be ahead of the handicapper judged on his last two performances and he may be the chief threat ahead of Astrazar, who was unable to show what he is capable of on his reappearance at Newbury. Laureate Crown is next on the list following his Sandown win, while Princling is unexposed and represents a top stable.[Ben Hutton]
