Looked one to follow when bolting up at Wolverhampton (6f, AW) in December and, after a series of misfortunes befell him early in the year, things have finally clicked this summer; saw off his 20 rivals over 6f here last month and then went down all guns blazing in the Stewards' Cup; another 3lb higher today but may not have reached his ceiling; high draw could be a negative.

Looked one to follow when bolting up at Wolverhampton (6f, AW) in December; had numerous excuses for a series of subsequent defeats but things finally clicked again at York (6f, good to firm) last week, gamely repelling 20 rivals; 2lb wrong under his penalty but he has Group-race aspirations and shouldn't be passed over lightly.

His career has been one of steady but consistent progress; wins at Epsom (6f, soft) and the Currragh (6.2f, good to firm) this season and he ran a sound race in the Stewards' Cup, perhaps finding that sharp test on fast ground inadequate; can't call upon course form but the weather has turned in his favour and he has another major handicap in him.

Climbed the ranks as a 4yo, ending that campaign with placed efforts in the Ayr Silver Cup and at Ascot; down the field on seasonal return but he hasn't looked back since, winning at Epsom (6f, soft) on Derby day for the second year in succession, doing best of the low numbers in the Wokingham (the others in his group have done well since) and then seeing off 19 rivals at the Curragh (6.3f, good to firm) two weeks ago; showed a fantastic attitude on that latest occasion and his 6lb penalty shouldn't prevent another big performance.

Front-runner who performed with great credit on all five starts last season, including a win here (6.5f) in September and a narrow defeat in the Ayr Gold Cup (6f); returned after wind surgery with a low-key effort at York last month but he may have need that run and has claims if he can get back near best; acts on most ground and four of his six wins have been at 7f.

Front-runner who performed with great credit on all five starts last season, finishing second at Thirsk (7f, good to firm) on his reappearance and beaten just a neck in the Ayr Gold Cup (6f, soft) when last seen; has had wind surgery since; no surprise if he makes a bold bid on this return.

Form & Verdict
He has not looked back since dropping to 6f in May, winning three times including an impressive success at the Shergar Cup at Ascot (6f, good to firm) a fortnight ago; two solid C&D runs on his record too but a 6lb rise for Ascot, allied to slower ground, could find him out; the only 3yo in the field and that age group have won the last two renewals.

Thriving since dropped to 6f, winning at Ripon and Hamilton in May and then performing with great credit in hot sprint handicaps on his last three starts; no obvious reason why he wouldn't be bang there once again.

His form has taken off since dropped to 6f, winning at Ripon and Hamilton in May and posting fine efforts in defeat over C&D and at Newmarket since; no obvious reason why he wouldn't be in the shake up again.

Form & Verdict
Style of racing leaves him a hostage to fortune but he has the ability to win a big prize when things pan out favourably; latest C&D second has been well advertised since and he wasn't well drawn there; 2lb rise should be fine and he has form on slow ground; one to consider.

Made good progress in the second half of 2025; the handicapper has held the upper hand more recently though and this might not set up ideally for his style of racing.

Five-time winner (four on AW) who ran well when fourth of 16 last May on his only outing here; chased home a handicap blot on his return to turf in April and he was back in that form when second at Windsor (again 6f, good to firm; Bolo Neighs behind) 11 days ago; in the mix once more.

Verdict

The best pace looks middle to high which could count against Wednesday's winner Air Force One and Hamad Al Jehani's classy pair Evening Saigon and Fine Interview. Red Spells Danger, the sole 3yo representative, is firmly on the up and can go well, along with Stratusnine (second choice), Coul Angel and Far Above Dream. Dropping to 6f for the first time in such a competitive race might normally be a concern but everything DANCE IN THE STORM has done this year has strongly suggested she can improve for sprinting. She looked well ahead of her mark at Chester this month and can take this en route to better things.[Paul Smith]
