Form & Verdict
Has produced two sound performances at Goodwood this term, namely Listed win (1m2f; gamely beat Naqeeb) in May and close second in very useful conditions race (1m1f) last time; ties in with Seagulls Eleven on Diomed (8.5f) running; solid claims.

Won the Cambridgeshire at Newmarket (1m1f, good to firm) last September and added a Listed win here (1m2f, good) in May, narrowly beating Naqeeb; this front-runner has remained in good form and can make a bold bid.

Has lots of form in major handicaps, including a good effort over C&D last year; consistent in the main but faces a stiffer assignment upped to Group level for the first time.

Defied a 5lb lower mark in the corresponding race 12 months ago; many good runs in defeat since then, including his fourth in the Royal Hunt Cup, and he is unlikely to be too far away.

Currently in a consistent vein of form that ties him in with some of today's opponents; creditable third to Indalo at Sandown most recently; Goodwood record comprises a couple of second-place finishes at this meeting, including in this race last year; solid claims.

Form & Verdict
Unbeaten at this course until two defeats at the 2026 Glorious Goodwood, albeit faced a difficult task on ratings and raced too close to strong pace in the Sussex Stakes latest (fluky winner of that race 12 months earlier); has a better chance in this field.

Prevailed in York Group 3 when dropped back to 7f last month, benefiting from the first application of a tongue-tie, and rallied for fourth behind Lake Forest in 7f Group 2 Lennox here yesterday; well suited by Goodwood but he was a fluky 150-1 winner of this race last year, having been allowed too much rope in a pacemaking duty, and seems unlikely to repeat the feat.

Versatile as regards ground; faced a stiff assignment in the Sussex Stakes last time (showed signs of post-race ataxia); in great form otherwise this season, notably winning the Diomed at Epsom then close third in Ascot Group 2; has won over C&D; major player.

Better than ever this season, most recently a close third in Group 2 at Ascot (1m, good to firm) when bidding for a hat-trick after wins at Longchamp (Listed) and Epsom (Group 3); landed the Group 3 Thoroughbred Stakes at this meeting 12 months ago; faces a tougher task in this top grade but could go well in his current form.

This prominent racer was pipped by No Lunch (who has to give him 3lb now) in Saint-Cloud Group 2 on reappearance but has built on that with wins in Listed race at Longchamp and Group 3 at Epsom (both 1m, good to soft) in recent months; while his best RPRS have been achieved on good or softer his second on good to firm at last year's Newmarket July meeting was as good as anything he'd achieved at that stage; should go well.

Losing run up to 16; has run some fine races in that period but her hold-up style dictates that things need to drop right and she got going too late when third in 1m Pontefract Listed race 18 days ago; prior to that she finished around 2l behind the reopposing Kon Tiki when eighth of 15 to Blue Bolt in the Duke Of Cambridge over C&D at the Royal meeting (good to firm).

Losing run up to 15 but she has run some fine races in that period, not least when beaten less than a length into third of six in the Group 2 Celebration Mile at Goodwood (1m, good to firm) last August (entered again this year); respected on these terms and Jamie Spencer knows her well; still holds a Sussex Stakes entry.

Tad exposed on turf, as her record of only 1-6 in this sphere reflects; 2-2 on AW, including Listed win, and may be more interesting when returned to an artificial surface.

Came up well short in Group 1/Listed events in the second half of 2025 but different story on Kempton AW reappearance, readily seeing off ten rivals in 1m Listed race; something presumably not right when favourite for an Epsom Group 3 on Derby day (good to soft), finishing a distant last of seven; given seven weeks to get over that.

Form & Verdict
Gamely won the Vintage Stakes at Goodwood and National Stakes at the Curragh (beat Gstaad) during his productive 2yo campaign; missed the 2,000 Guineas due to a setback but has shown he retains plenty of ability with fifth-place finishes in two Group 1 races this summer, the Sussex Stakes over C&D on first occasion (sole 1m attempt); highly respected back down in class.

One of the best 2yos around last season, with his head defeat of Gstaad in the Group 1 National Stakes at the Curragh (7f, yielding; unraced on softer) his most striking piece of form; a setback ruled out him out of the 2,000 Guineas after shaping encouragingly in a trial, and he got messed about at a crucial stage when fifth in the Sussex (one place behind Ten Bob Tony); this shorter trip might be a better fit for him and, as he still retains some upside, he looks a key player.

Game colt whose record of 4-5 as a 2yo featured wins in the Vintage Stakes at this meeting and National Stakes at the Curragh; latter is one of two pieces of form that tie him in with Gstaad; respectable second in the Greenham at Newbury (kept to 7f) on reappearance but missed the 2,000 Guineas due to a setback; ready for a crack at 1m and, having raced only once this season, there's still some unfinished business about him; adds interest.

Verdict

This may well prove a good opportunity for ZAVATERI (nap) to record a first success of his light 3yo campaign. He was a highly likeable juvenile last season and has shaped encouragingly in Group 1 contests this summer, doing enough to make him the pick in this field. Seagulls Eleven (second choice) and Qirat finished behind the selection in the Sussex Stakes but they are plausible dangers on their best form, while Boiling Point and Naqeeb are solid contenders.[Steve Boow]
