Form & Verdict
Ended his 2yo campaign with AW Listed win and has proved consistent this term, most recently best of the near-side runners in the Jersey at Royal Ascot; holds solid claims in another change of headgear, albeit is comfortably held by Talk Of New York on Heron Stakes running.

Consistent gelding whose third to the high-class Talk Of New York in Sandown Listed race (1m, good) last time was just the latest in a string of creditable efforts; should be fine back at 7f but he's beginning to look exposed and the first-time visor (replacing cheekpieces) needs to give him a lift.

Listed winner at Dundalk (7f, AW) last October and running well in defeat this year, particularly at the Curragh (1m, good; Listed) this month when 2l runner-up in first-time cheekpieces (retained); with a clear run he'd have finished closer last time and holds each-way claims under a 3lb penalty.

Form & Verdict
Campaigned mostly at 7f; had wind/gelding operations prior to easily justifying favouritism in Goodwood handicap; second best (behind Andab) in the near-side group in the Jersey Stakes since; the only course winner in this field and there are 1m/1m1f scorers on the dam's side of his pedigree.

Disappointing when favourite at Meydan in February, but returned from wind surgery and a gelding operation with a much improved effort to win 17-runner handicap at Goodwood (7f, good) with stacks in hand; that looks solid form and a repeat would give him major claims for a stable that won this race in 2021 and 2022.

Unraced on ground softer than good; has consistent RPRs over 7f and looks reasonably solid in that respect; chance of showing progress depends on the effects of his physical tweaks (gelding/wind operations) since a disappointing effort over 6f at Meydan in February.

Form & Verdict
Useful colt whose 2yo form featured a success in AW Group 3 and fourth in the Middle Park, both over 6f; proved resurgent in 7f Listed contest at Chester most recently, making the frame; however, has something to find on ratings upped further in distance.

Won 6f Group 3 on AW last September and fourth in Group 1 Middle Park at Newmarket (6f, good to firm) three weeks later; that rounded off his 2yo campaign but he's been regressive in three runs this season and was down the field in a York handicap last time; has some questions to answer and he's untried at this trip.

Won 6f AW Group 3 last September and fourth in Group 1 Middle Park at Newmarket (6f, good to firm) three weeks later; below best in Group races on both starts this year but wasn't devoid of promise at Newmarket, and Haydock last time was a first run on slow ground; not discounted on handicap debut.

Form & Verdict
Ran below expectations when a warm order for the Jersey at Royal Ascot (2-2 previously) but bounced back with a creditable effort against his elders in 7f Group 3 at York a week later, while leaving the impression he'll be suited by this step up to 1m combined with first-time headgear; remains of interest, with further progress still plausible.

Ran below expectations when a warm order for the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot last Saturday but was drawn a bit higher than ideal, the way the race panned out, and finishing sixth of 16 wasn't a total disaster; 2-2 previously, including 7f Listed win at Newmarket, and can be treated as retaining potential; respected in receipt of 9lb from his elders.

Highly promising colt who cost 230,000gns as a yearling and came from last to first when beating five rivals in Listed event at Newmarket (7f, good to firm) on reappearance, maintaining his unbeaten record; high in the pecking order on ratings after just two outings and has lots of potential; could be anything.

Form & Verdict
Showed a strike-rate of 3-4 as a 2yo; has gradually found his form this season and recorded a clearcut success in Newmarket Listed event (1m, good to firm) most recently, hitting the line strongly and building on his second-place finish in the German 2,000 Guineas; back in the zone and may rate higher still; one of the main contenders.

Dante entry; progressive with 3-4 record in Britain last season, ending with a Listed win from the front at Pontefract (1m, soft); however, beaten a long way in Saudi Arabia this February and although back near his 2yo form in Listed race at Newmarket (1m1f, good; disputed lead 2f out) three weeks ago, that was good enough for only fifth of seven to Morshdi; major work to do.

Form & Verdict
Progressive colt whose record is 3-5; came off strong pace set by a stablemate and stormed clear to win the Heron Stakes at Sandown on penultimate start, then ran well in the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot (1m, good to firm) despite pulling hard in the early stages; the form pick and his chance will be cemented if settling better than last time.

Very promising colt who has a record of 3-4 overall and 2-2 since wearing a hood; above-average winner of the Heron Stakes at Sandown (1m, good; Listed) most recently, coming off strong pace set by a stablemate and storming clear to beat his closest pursuer by just over 5l; looks a Group 1 performer in the making, the way he's going, and it should be remembered that he was second-favourite in ante-post betting for the 2,000 Guineas prior to a change of plan; adds great interest.

Impressive at Kempton (1m, AW) last October on sole 2yo start and returned with close Listed third at Meydan (1m, good) before comfortable conditions race win at Newmarket (7f, good) where he settled better in a first-time hood (retained); that latest form hasn't worked out well but he is William Buick's mount of the four Godolphin runners and is a key player.

Form & Verdict
Had wind surgery prior to reappearance win and now goes in first-time tongue-tie having dropped right away in the Heron Stakes; short of the standard set by Talk Of New York in this rematch but has the same strike-rate (3-5) as that rival and, with the Sandown run perhaps best excused, it's too soon to suggest he can't resume improvement.

Two novice wins last autumn (7f, good to soft/good) and he comfortably completed the hat-trick when making all in a warm, three-runner conditions race at Southwell (1m, AW) on last month's reappearance; in top hands (one of two for the yard) and he could take this rise in grade in his stride.

Built on his debut effort when ending up a comfortable winner at Redcar (7f, good to soft) in September; took another step forward when winning a novice under a penalty at Newmarket (7f, good) in October when last seen, form that has been franked with six of those behind winning since; had wind surgery since; stepping up in trip should prove no issue and he looks the one to beat on his return.

Verdict

Talk Of New York comes with a caveat, being a sometimes hard-puller who ideally needs a strong pace, but he's the pick on ratings back down in class and duly commands respect. SHAYEM is peaking at the right time and looks a solid alternative, while Saber Strike (second choice from a punting angle) adds great interest with the new trip and first-time headgear looking tailor-made for him.[Steve Boow]
