Form & Verdict
Changed hands for £160,000 after winning two Irish points in first part of 2023; however, he's been well beaten in hot novice chases on his first two runs under rules and is probably vulnerable today.

Form & Verdict
Bumper (good to soft) and maiden hurdle (good) winner who was second at Exeter (3m, good) last month on his second chase start; unproven on soft ground; could give another good account but up against it if Jango Baie transfers his hurdling ability to fences.

Last win came in 3m Kempton handicap in Christmas of 2024; third to Bill Baxter in this race last year but not at best this season, chasing home a clear winner at Ludlow last time (only two finishers); 7lb lower than last year so don't rule out.

Appeared to get his campaign back on track when third over hurdles at Musselburgh (3m, good to soft) and, when a 10l fifth over C&D since, he was softened up by getting competitive a good way out; he doesn't have a convincing profile but his pure ability is respected.

Out of form over fences this season but turned things around with creditable third over hurdles at Musselburgh (3m good to soft) last month and it will be interesting to see whether he can build on that performance on this return to chasing.

Form & Verdict
Won the Grade 1 Formby Novices' Hurdle here (2m, soft) last December and highly creditable second in competitive handicap here (2m4f, soft) in April when last seen; this point runner-up brings considerable potential to his novice chase campaign and could take plenty of beating today.

Kept on for close third to Impaire Et Passe in the 2m4f Manifesto here 12 months ago and has improved for longer trips this season; very close fourth in thrilling finish to the King George at Kempton (3m, good) in December and 8l second in the Gold Cup at Cheltenham (3m2f, good to soft) last month; leading claims if that hard race 27 days ago hasn't left a mark.

Came from behind to win the Arkle here (2m, good to soft) 12 months ago and, as could be anticipated, was well suited by the step up to 3m when a very close fourth behind The Jukebox Man and Gaelic Warrior in the King George at Kempton (3m, good) in December; of the four involved in that thrilling finish he arguably shaped as the one most likely to improve for today's stiffer test; seems versatile ground-wise; could play a leading role.

Short-headed in Grade 1 Scilly Isles at Sandown (2m4f, heavy) in February on second chase start and rallied from a very unpromising position to win the Arkle at Cheltenham (2m, good to soft) last month; unraced on good ground; ran big races over hurdles on both visits here and he's a leading contender with the step back up in trip likely to be in his favour.

Verdict

This looks an excellent opportunity for JANGO BAIE to make a winning start over fences. He won the Grade 1 Formby Novices’ Hurdle here last December. Beachcomber was runner-up in a handicap chase at Exeter last time and is the obvious danger.[Ben Hutton]
