Fetched £150,000 after his Irish point win; only beat three rivals at Worcester (2m7f, soft) but they were useful and this 5yo shaped like a real grinder that day; has a penalty but he's promising.

Form & Verdict
Bought for 450,000euros after winning an Irish point in 2023; showed some ability in bumpers and could be seen in a very different light now sent chasing over a trip he's bred for (related to smart stayers); sold again this summer as part of the Chris Giles dispersal sale and returned to Paul Nicholls after making £120,000; had wind op and now tongue tied.

Lightly raced Irish maiden point winner; off the mark over nearly 3m in a maiden hurdle at Chepstow (good) and stopped quickly on handicap debut at Ayr's big April meeting; like many from this yard, chasing should be more his game.

Form & Verdict
Has been off for 12 months but that final start represented significant improvement in finishing a near 7l third behind respected rivals in a 2m5f novice at Wincanton (soft; in second was the smart Lord Of Thunder); good chance if he's relatively fit for this return over nearly 3m.

Form & Verdict
Best known for smart chasing exploits and made it 0-7 as a hurdler when pulled in the Grade 1 Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham in March 2023; this is clearly much easier than that but remains to be seen what form he's in after so long out.

Verdict

It wasn’t mindblowing form that HISTRIONIC showed in bumpers but his pedigree is all about stamina and Paul Nicholls was evidently keen to retain his services after he went through the ring this summer as part of the Chris Giles dispersal sale. Clondaw General is the only one with a recent run under his belt and it wasn’t a bad race he won at Worcester, for all that only three ran. Jail No Bail is also promising, while smart chaser Saint Palais can’t be ruled out.[Alistair Jones]
