Came to grief in three of first five chases, and jumping was rather sketchy when third of five at Wincanton (2m4f, good; first-time cheekpieces) last month; drops in grade here, though, and was be a danger to all if he finds some fluency.

Verdict

He wasn’t at his best in stronger company 17 days ago but FAMILY POT gave a good account when placed off today’s mark over 3m1f here two starts and is also well suited by this shorter trip. He gets the vote ahead of Just Go For It, who made an encouraging chase debut over C&D last month. Furkash has a tendency to make jumping errors but can be dangerous off his current mark if he avoids any serious howlers.[Chris Wilson]
