Runner-up at Epsom (1m4f, good to firm) last month on second handicap start and has won his next two (1m4f/1m6f, good to soft/heavy); has travelled really well for those wins and he could have more left in the tank for trainer who has won two of the last four runnings (also saddles Lordship). |

Has improved plenty since handicapping, getting off the mark by nearly 5l at Ascot (1m4f, good to soft) last Friday; has a good chance of staying the longer trip on breeding and 6lb penalty is unlikely to stop him if he's in the same form. |

Largely consistent 5yo who bumped into a very well handicapped rival when clear second at Huntingdon (2m, good) in April; not quite in same form at Aintree the following month and not yet proven over this far but still considered. |

His hat-trick (2m1f-2m4f; good) has come at a cost mark-wise but it was all very straightforward last time at Sedgefield; something has clicked big time and he could deal with another 6lb. |

Kickstarted 2026 with a Flat success at Southwell and he's bagged back-to-back handicaps here since, readily landing the odds over C&D 13 days ago; hiked up 10lb now but thriving and still the one to beat. |

Has an all-or-nothing profile since handicapping, having scored twice (1m2f/1m4f) and been a disappointing favourite twice; could easily bounce back, provided he's suited by this new trip. |

Son of Le Havre who displayed a good attitude when landing 1m4f Newbury handicap 26 days ago; he appeals as the sort to do better still so merits serious consideration in first-time cheekpices. |

Maiden who's had valid excuses since headgear went on and is 3lb lower back from a two-month break; sat close to a strong pace down to 1m last time and holds claims in an open handicap. |

Six-race maiden who has some encouraging form on the Tapeta at Newcastle, most recently shaping better than the bare result over 1m2f last week (made a challenge before fading late on); looks open to improvement back down in distance; interesting. |

Much improved last year, including after his second to Plage De Havre in this race at Haydock; York sixth to Klassleader on reappearance but back to his best when staying-on third of 16 at Royal Ascot (1m6f, good to firm) 18 days ago; needs respect. |

Had a ball last year after being gelded, winning three of his six starts and as good as ever when a close fifth stepped up to 1m6f at Haydock in September; however, he is a 6yo and perhaps high in the weights now, a suspicion seemingly confirmed by his York run one month ago; there's no obvious significance in the return of cheekpieces. |

Short-headed on 2024 reappearance and won it last year; thrived last season when winning three races and not far away in the other three, including at this track; highly respected for that campaign, and first-time-out record, but the handicapper reacted and he now needs to resume improvement. |

Fourth in this race last year off the same mark; fine efforts when runner-up in February on first two starts (2m, AW) since rejoining this yard, but reportedly made a respiratory noise next time and, following his third wind operation, he was a soundly beaten outsider in Listed race four weeks ago; others seem more solid. |

Fine efforts when runner-up in 2m AW handicaps in February on first two starts since rejoining this yard; reportedly made a respiratory noise at Musselburgh in April and he's had a third wind operation since; however, even if returning to form, a career-best if needed from this 6yo today. |

4th Apr 2026 Good 1m 5f 216y Class 1 |
9st 2lb |
A poor show last May prompted a second wind operation and it was a solid campaign otherwise; never better than when second this February in 2m AW handicaps at Wolverhampton and Lingfield, but peak turf form isn't far behind it and he'll probably be on the premises. |

Verdict
Some interesting newcomers here, with Imperial Ace, Open Choice and Roaring Legend possibly the pick. Market support for any of them should be heeded, but LASER GUIDED probably ran better than it looked when in midfield on his Kempton debut. He is bred to be better than that and his experience should stand him in good stead.[David Bellingham]
