Inconsistent and well beaten in this last year when the fast ground may not have suited; however, he won in good style over C&D (good) in May and returned to form with a neck second at Doncaster (1m2f, good) a fortnight ago; has won twice on soft going and is capable of playing a leading role.

Usually races prominently; a mostly solid 2025 included 1m2f Listed wins in May and November; 2026 started in downbeat fashion (similar to last year) in Listed race and his top three ratings have been registered on softer than good; this is also a new trip (unraced beyond an extended 1m2f) but he's bred to get it and has a chance on best form; ground the chief worry.

Both wins came over 1m2f in the spring of 2024, including here; 0-18 subsequently and he's still 7lb above his last winning mark, but he goes well fresh (has won after a longer break) and finished third on his comeback in this race last year; likely to be competitive.

Has run some really good races in defeat this season, including over C&D on good/good to firm; latest soft-ground Ascot second (Grizedale third) shows he's still in form but he's been beaten on his last 17 starts and suspicion he might find at least one too strong again.

Form & Verdict
Two wins on the other Newmarket course last month (7f/1m, good); fair fourth at Sandown (7f, good) latest; effective on good to soft (unraced on softer); however, there's a suspicion this will be too competitive.

Returned to form to win over here over 7f a week ago, beating six rivals; a 5lb penalty still leaves him on a handy mark based on last year's form and he's relatively unexposed on the AW; contender with the step back up to 1m no concern.

On a reduced mark but he's been well held in his last five runs and is now 0-17 since his last win in August 2024; withdrawn after refusing to enter the stalls at Kempton last week, but he was 7-2 at the time.

On a reduced mark but he's not been on top form in 2025; drops back down in grade today but others are more appealing for win purposes.

Form & Verdict
Not seen to best effect the last twice but before those this 3yo went close in a Glorious Goodwood handicap (1m, good to firm) despite being denied a clear run for a substantial spell; also effective on soft ground; no surprise if he bounces back to form with a big performance.

Acts on soft; has mostly run well in warm 7f/1m handicaps this season, never better than when dead-heating for second in a valuable event at Ascot 11 days ago; this first Listed assignment makes for a different scenario but he has the form to be not far away.

Form & Verdict
Won on heavy-ground debut last October and, having been gelded, he returned to form when third in a first-time hood at Ascot (1m4f, soft) last time; the hood is left off today and he can be headstrong, but he'll get plenty of cover in this field and his surplus stamina may be no bad thing.

Belied his 100-1 odds with a remarkable success in the Triumph at this meeting (2m1f, good to soft) last year on hurdles debut, collaring Lulamba who subsequently reversed placings with him at Punchestown and is a leading contender in today's Arkle; ran below expectations at Royal Ascot but ran promisingly, with a view to this race, in the Irish Champion Hurdle on return from layoff (got detached in the back straight, ending up with plenty to do, then stayed on for third of five); could be open to plenty of further improvement with that outing under his belt and given his very low mileage in this sphere; very interesting back at Cheltenham.

Made his stable/hurdles debut in the Triumph at Cheltenham, belied odds of 100-1 to win by a neck; second at Punchestown in May (despite racing freely) confirmed his high standing; ran much too freely when strongly fancied for the 2m4f Ascot Stakes.

Trained last year by Ralph Beckett, favourite when below form in the 1m1f Cambridgeshire on final outing (also below form on sole run on good to firm); made his stable/hurdles debut in March, in the Triumph at Cheltenham no less, but belied odds of 100-1 to win by a neck; second at Punchestown in May (despite racing freely) confirmed his high standing in that sphere, so he's a high-profile candidate for this return to Flat, over a very new Flat trip but his trainer usually picks the right ones for these races.
