Out of an AW winner and duly improved for the Polytrack when all out to win a 7f maiden at Kempton; 100-1 chance who was well held on her debut finished second, so the form looks dubious; bit to prove mark-wise and on this return to turf.

Useful on the Flat, won 1m4f Salisbury handicap in 2023 off a mark of 88; more off days than on in the meantime but soft ground no help on recent yard debut after nearly two years off; worth a market check off a very low mark now back on more suitable ground; cheekpieces refitted.

Regressed over hurdles last year but there was some encouragement with a hood deployed when fourth of seven at Wolverhampton (1m4f, AW) on his Flat return last month; blinkers (retained) were back on when a pace bias and wide draw did for him at Chester three weeks ago; not entirely ruled out.

Verdict

The form standard is set by GALACTIC JACK, while likely improver Maasai Mara has to be feared. However, they head the shortlist somewhat tentatively as all of the debutants are interesting types, most notably Garden Route, Leadenhall and Power Of Gold. Any positive market moves should be strongly heeded.[Steve Boow]
