Bumper winner who built on the promise shown in his three novice hurdles when going close on his chase debut in a novice handicap at Worcester (2m7f, good) in October; this unexposed 6yo is open to further improvement and could have a part to play.

Soundly beaten/pulled up towards end of last year on final two runs for Fergal O'Brien; however, perhaps a change of scenery and first run in a veterans' chase will prompt a revival from this 10yo, who is on a reduced mark; interesting on yard debut, all the more so if strong in the betting.

Thorough stayer; seemingly on the downgrade now but ran well for a long way when eighth in last month's Aintree Foxhunters' and probably found the good ground too lively when below that form at Cheltenham (2m4f; first-time cheekpieces) four weeks ago; can make his presence felt here.

Won three-runner handicap at Hereford (3m1f, good to firm) in October but well beaten the last twice; even if he's back to his best he faces a tough task in this company.

Ex-Flat racer who was a fine second in a Grade 1 novice hurdle at Aintree in April (3m, good to soft; has won on good ground); soundly beaten in two handicap hurdles this autumn but he's a major player in this line-up if taking to fences at the first attempt; wears a first-time tongue-tie.

Went up in trip at Hereford (3m1f, good to soft) last month on his second chase start and displayed improvement to win easily; he'll be vulnerable if the best hurdlers in this field transfer their form to fences, but based on chase performances he's one to be interested in.

Commendable second in last season's Aintree Foxhunters' (2m5f, good to soft) and as good as ever in recent 2m4f handicaps; stays 3m well and won't be fazed if the ground turns soft (unraced on heavy); ought to be hard to beat on return to hunter chasing.

Form & Verdict
Point (3m, good) and maiden hurdle (2m4f, good to soft) winner who was beaten half a length when second of two finishers on chase debut at Wetherby (3m, good to soft); it was a slowly run race and the form probably shouldn't be taken at face value, but it was still a positive performance and the winner would be a hot favourite if running in this; could be a player.

Made mistakes and was tailed off on chase/seasonal debut at Cheltenham (3m, good) in October; something to prove on the back of that but he may have needed the run and holds leading claims if tapping back into the ability shown when winning a Grade 2 novice hurdle here (3m, good) in January.

Verdict

Three of these stand out on hurdle form, with two (Gentleman At Arms and Bellatrixsa) making their chase debuts. MAHLER MISSION was disappointing at Cheltenham in October on his first run over fences but may have needed that reappearance outing and could be a different proposition today, having won a Grade 2 novice hurdle here in January. Gentleman At Arms and Bellatrixsa are respected but the chief danger may come from Loughderg Rocco, who ran a promising race on his chase debut at Wetherby. Autonomous Cloud and Jet Plane could also be involved if the talented hurdlers underperform.[Ben Hutton]
